Can 100% cotton wash mitts be made?

Would it be safe to get a fluffy, soft 100% cotton towel and cut it up and then stitch it into wash mitts? I'm having trouble finding these 100% cotton mitts locally, and it seems practical and cheaper to make them yourself, but I don't want to do it unless I'm sure it's safe. What do you think?

Sure, you could do that. I have been using the NAPA brand name cotton mits, they are not great quality but they don't scratch my black car and clean good for me.

Be sure to use cotton thread for the stitching. If you are using a sewing machine, make sure that the bobbin has cotton thread too.
