Calling All Souveran Users.....

Okay, I took the plunge and purchased Souveran. Is there anything that I should know about this wax in particular? It seems a little "unforgiving". I understand the "correct" way to apply is to apply it to the finish in a very thin layer and then wipe off right away - hazing is unnecessary. ??

How about the "concours trick" of applying the 1st coat, then waiting at least 12 hours for cure time and applying a second coat? Any significance in results?

Any and all experiences/opinions on this product would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:)

I apply it thinly over a small part of the car. I normally wait until it hazes lightly then I remove it.

Yes, you can apply a second coat over the first. The second coat makes a difference on a black car. More than two coats does not seem to add anything.

Articwhite,

I noticed that you picked up the Souveran set off of e-Bay. You got a great deal. Did you get the set yet? I ask because I won a Paste Glaz set a few days ago. I got the same set you did, except mine has Paste Glaz instead of Souveran. I got my set for $39.99+ shipping!!! I was just wonder what your dealing with the seller were like, I noticed that they did not have much of a rating.

Thanks.

Articwhite,

For myself, I applied a very thin coat to all of my vehicle. then let it dry for 1/2 hour before buffing. Came off so easily, I couldn't believe it.

I have never tried the concours trick of putting on one coat, waiting a few minutes, and using another coat on top of that.

I did put a second coat on a fire red vehicle 24 hours later, and it did make a noticable difference to me.

Great product, easy to use, great shine, and adds depth. Lasted 3 to 4 good weeks. The Blitz lasts 5 to 6 good weeks. But the Blitz is more work and turns your trim white. It also seems to be a dust magnet when you first apply it.

Maybe DonG will give us some of his secrets. He really likes the Souveran. I also think it's a great wax. A tad expensive, but what a shine! Enjoy!

and it arrived in a timely manner. Had no problems dealing with them at all; they are an exotic car dealership located in Missouri.

Something is not right with this hazing issue. The literature that accompanied the Souveran states that hazing is not necessary. Maybe I'm not reading things correctly. It does make sense to me to allow the wax to haze and then to buff, that's why I questioned the procedure.

Thanks for the imput, guys. I appreciate it. :up

articwhite,

Did you get everything you were supposed to get? YoSteve said that he did not get the towel or Crystal Mist with his.

The only thing that this kit did not contain was a Koala Towel. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be included or not, can't remember. I'd have to go back and check on eBay. The Crystal Mist WAS in this particular kit.

I wipe it onto one panel and then remove after I finished applying to that panel. I do not let it haze. On a medium sized sedan, I can wipe/buff in around 30-40 minutes, I can go faster but I love the smell of this stuff......

There is a difference using this concours trick of letting a coat cure, then applying another, I wait a few days to be sure. It takes a trained eye to see it, but I know the souveran makes the paint appear deeper and wetter.

Okay, so I am not losing my mind on the "correct" application of Souveran. There seem to be two schools of thought on this. I did go back and read the literature and it does say that hazing is unnecessary, and that applying and then wiping it off wet is what should be done.

Still puzzled though, as Brad and others allow theirs to haze. I think trial and error will come into play here. I'll just play with it and see what works. Thanks again.

Hey Arcticwhite, I've been away for a while but decided to come back home to Autopia. So how have you liked the Souveran so far? I know its kind of a dumb question as I'm absolutely sure you are going to love it. Just FYI I also apply it thinly, let it sit for only a few seconds then buff it out. No waiting is necessary. I'm sure if you let it sit and haze you will not have any problems. So don't worry too much about it and above everything - ENJOY the Souveran. Laters.

I apply souveran to one panel at a time then remove. The instructions says that is the way to use it. I did get lazy one day and put it a panel and left it for about 15 minutes and it still came off easily.

Since this post, I have applied the Souveran to my car, atop 3 coats of Klasse Sealant Glaze. I have a great appreciation for the ease of application with this product; there is no chalking which is such a nice asset.

As far as appearance goes, I will tip my hat to the Souveran, but also state that the Blitz comes in a close second. Due to the cost of the Souveran, I'd have a hard time justifying it's use on a daily driver, but this is a "garage queen" that we are speaking of.

I will say that I feel it is very heavy in the "oil dept." I know that these added oils aid in the softening of the carnauba, and also provide gloss/depth to the finish, just seems a bit heavier in this dept. than the Blitz.

What do you think?

You're absolutely correct Arcticwhite. I've often said that the Souveran gives you the best of both worlds for a carnauba. Great shine AND depth. Undoubtedly, this attribute comes from a slightly higher content in some oils. Laters.
