well the main problem with my car is it is parked outside and gets super dusty in a couple days after washing it. so i have heard about this california duster thing that supposedly removes dust without scratching your paint. i was wondering if i should believe this and use this product on my car. would you guys do it?

my friend used it on his repainted single stage teggy, and it marred the paint pretty bad... the paint is pretty soft

I use the duster but only for very light dust, being my car is garaged kept i don't get much heavy dust and if you use one you have to go very light over the paint just about touching it don't drag it over the paint with a lot of pressure.

I use it every day to remove light dust and pollen when I get home from work. This keeps dew or water from a light shower from turning the dust into dirt that has to be washed off. If your car is clean and has some LSP on it and you use a light touch you will not get any marring.

On Honda paint I wouldn't use it, too soft in my opinion. However, looking at your car that doesn't look like stock Honda paint, so maybe it is a bit harder.

I use it every night when I get home on my DD Lincoln and my fiances Accord (her car stays in the garage at night though), I check the paint after each pass and so far no problems.

I cannot imagine anybody being more careful with it than I was, and I got marring.

And yeah, I really meant that first part ;) You name the how-to-be-gentle technique and I employed it, and it *still* marred up the Jag.

There are many factors that contribute to marring, but I was at a cruise in the other weekend where guys were wiping their cars down. The car that had the most swirls on it belonged to a guy that kept wiping it with a duster. Of course, he may wash it with steel wool for all I know, but it was pretty swirled - clean, but swirled.

i use one all three of my cars have not had any marring. my ford has the softest paint of the three cars. Only use it to remove light dust and pollen regularly.

I had a silver '05 Ford Freestyle, pearl white '04 Nissan Maxima, and black '96 Mustang with near perfect paint. I the Mustang is garage kept, but the duster has not scratched the black at all. The other two vehicles are both outside 100% of the time...and unless it's raining, I dust them every night before the sun is down for the day. I've had very little, if any marring. Our course I do a full detail on them first thing in the spring and it the fall before it's too cold. I've had no trouble. I do keep a good coat of sealant or wax on at all times, and I do an FK425 wipe-down probably every 3-4 days if the duster doesn't glide smoothly.

I like mine, but that's just my 2 cents. And I use the OXO Duster. I liked it better than the CC-duster, but it's a little heavier.

I have a 2008 black Dodge minivan, SXT. I had used the Duster on all my previous cars, and never noted any ill effects. But it made a mess of my new black car. I had to polish out the marring. Of course just touching this car leaves marks, but I am throwing out my duster, and will not use it again seeing what it did.

nice car there. what is under the hood??

I use mine like crazy on the Vette and both Integras, which are black, and I haven't had a problem....then again I only do it when there is dust of pollen (sp?) on the car.

just a lil b series. nothing special..

Is it another B16 swap? Everyone has one of those, except me. Keep the D alive!:werd:

Edit: To help you with your question, I wouldn't suggest doing it because I've done it with my EH2 and its simply not worth the time and you gotta be careful since the duster can trap the dust and use it to instill scratches to your paint.

I now regulate my duster for use on my windows when washing....

i would say use it only for light light dust, like you just washed it and put it in garage and its dusty. Driving it wont remove all dust. But a big thing with the duster is do not let it get very dirty, it will put light scratches in the paint if not careful. I have had that duster for over 5 years and to be honest with ya i dont even use it anymore. I rather SD, which takes longer. :)

That thing is expensive to have such mixed reviews. It's been around for years and I always thought it was as advertised. Now I think I'd have my doubts. Is it because some people don't look at their finish minutely and it is actually marring more than we think?
