ok.. so i bought a ccd recently.. seems as though when i use the ccd on my black paint.. it leaves a trail of this wax stuff.. this was used in the morning.. as well as the afternoon.. i heard it was bad in the sun.. so i tried in the morning.. same effect.. seems as though although it gets the dust off.. leaves a trail of wax or so.. so it makes the car look worse... any suggestions? andd.. is this normal?.. im guessin on any other car other than black.. it would show.. oh well.. im open for suggestions.. thanx

I don't see it on my paint but it did on my windows, now I'm careful not to dust the windows with it.

It is the parafin wax in the duster. It helps grab the dirt and dust off your car. It is harmless to your finish and with time it will not get on your car as much. Give the duster a chance it is a good tool and a nice convienence.

When CCDs are new, they have a lot of the parafin. Might want to set it on some paper for a little while. Some of the excess should be absorbed by the paper. I think most do this with new CCDs.

It's normal. The instructions with the CCD say to set it on newspaper for the first 24 hours after you first purchase it (I assume to absorb excess wax.)

Also, I find that the with a lighter touch, the CCD will leave little to no wax trails.

I have the same problem, so I don't use the duster unless I am going to QD the car at the same time. Zaino or Megs QD products take the duster residue off immediately.

After 10 days on the newspaper and changing its position on the newspaper, it did not streak on my black A4

Glad I saw thi spost. I just picked one up myself and had the same prob and it was very noticeable even on pearl white paint. I will have to try the newspaper thing and see if that works! Thanks guys!

Mine did the same thing on my black S-10, I would only use it if I was going to QD it afterwards but it eventually got better.

The wax streaks will indeed diminish with use. Maybe when it's still brand new dont use it in direct sunlight, the new waxes will melt faster and may streak

I found what the others have said to be true. My directions (I bought four Cal Dust's) said to air for 48 hours before use.

Once I did that, the streaking went away as the duster got dirtier. Don't press down as you'll squeeze more wax out of the fibers onto the finish. We use them on 3 dark cars and one white.

Their directions also note that the dirtier they get the better they work. They can also be washed if absolutely needed. Others have had success washing them as posted in other threads. But don't wash it just to get excess wax off.

My CCD leaves residue too, even after having sat on paper towels for about two weeks. I'm about fed up with it. DavidB tells me the OXO duster doesn't suffer this problem, so I'll probably try one of those.
