Burgers

Mr. Clean

The Man Who Knows The Man
An American favorite food? Yes? No? Just heard on the local newscast that the iconic west coast hamburger haven, In-N-Out burger will build their first Texas outpost right here in NE Texas. Excited? Yes, I am. I have long heard the complaints of transplanted Californians bemoaning their inability to feed their In-N-Out burger fix. Of course I also heard great things from the Steak-N-Shake folks, but was greatly disappointed myself when I tried them on several occasions. But we'll see. Hoping that they are everything they are cracked up to be. I have yet to try out the 5 Guys located in Plano, but haven't heard very good reviews on them.

In and Out IMO is the same concept as McD was when they started...for fast food its the one that I go to

Dave and I are going to tackle this bad boy the friday before the Detail fest!!! ;)

In n Out makes a decent burger, fries and shake. You have to ask for the animal fries since they aren't on the menu.

After going to Florida and having Checkers, In & Out is just ok ... % Guys is a bit over rated ..they pulverize the burger and take all the juices out :wall

What are animal fries? Fried in beef tallow?

JonHenry, I'm not the one bashin' on 5-Guys, I haven't eaten there yet. :)

But, yes TD, we have pretty high expectations for burgers we're here in beef country and there are a lot of burger joints that have raised the bar pretty high. It has been my experience that if there are more than two or three locations then I've probably been set up for disappointment. Dairy Queen was technically an exception to that rule. I ate at the original Fudrucker's back when it first opened in San Antonio, but feel that expansion has taken it's toll on that concept. But that won't stop me from giving it a try when In-N-Out makes its Texas debut (so long as there aren't any lines ;)).

Poorboy, I'm with you I can't stand a dried out patty. Fond memories of eating burgers whilst the juices dripped down both elbows. :rofl

Not sure which 5 guys you went to, but the one I went to down in Ft Lauderdale was the greasiest, most delicious burger I've ever had. :rockon

here in NY there are laws as to the temperature a burger must be cooked to for fast foods .. 5 guys to meet that requirement literally press and squeeze every drop of juice out of them so they are well done and pretty dry ...I like mine juicy and dripping like Mr. Clean  ..next time i go I'll take pictures of the grill :inspector: ... even Wendy's on a good day will be better :wall ... Fudrucker's is about 25 miles for me but still is worth the drive :dnaughty

I've had the 5 Guys as well and its very good!

Really In & Out is a good burger but hardly a gourmet burger at any length...As I posted in the start, they work from the same premises as Mc D's started out as.

Very simple menu all fresh made ingredients made on site, no happy kiddie meals, prizes, etc!

To each his own I guess because I went to checkers in Davie Florida area and thought it was to 5 guy's as Chef Boy R Dee is to New York Pizza.:(

I've eaten at In-N-Out burger for years. Much of my business travel was to the west coast and I spent a lot of time in Vegas as well. I found the talk surrounding their food had an almost mythical quality to it. I've also heard this same kind of talk when people discuss Krispy Creme donuts. Many of the people that I would travel with had never experienced the In-N-Out burgers and just had to try them when we went to lunch. When attending Comdex this was something that was a must for they guys in our group.

I can honestly say that I never found INO to be anything special. They've recently expanded their chain in to Utah. I think they put in 3 new restaurants. I once again tried one of their burgers just to see if my perception had changed. Don't get me wrong I can eat their burger but I would put them in the same category as Wendy's. I wouldn't look too far to get one. I do like a White Castle mini burger now and then. We don't have their restaurants locally and I would drive a few miles to get a half dozen of these burgers. We have a regional chain located here in Utah that is called Crown Burger/Burger Supreme (2 brothers split the business), they make a great hamburger and is one I would recommend a burger lover try should the opportunity arise.
