Bulk Products for Non-Autopian Type Use

Hey all, here is the deal.

I work at an ambulance where one of the requirements is that the ambulances get washed at least once daily. Currently, they simply have been buying whatever car wash soap and occasionaly tire foam at the $$$ hardware store they are carrying that week.

I convinced the chief of service (he defaults to me for all car care :D ) to look at buying some products in bulk to save money.

Does anyone have a reccomendation on some bulk car soap, tire dressing, interior dressing, as well as even some odor spray, such as febreeze? I would ideally like to have dispensers in a mounting system direct to the wall, or on a shelf. Keep in mind these are definite non- autopian washes...with the same old brush they have been using for a few years that always hits the ground... :soscared:

It is more simply to have the products there to use so people can access them easily and at least get the grime off of things.

Thanks!

CarBrite

I think they are in westbrook

Meguiars Detailer line is pretty good. Plus, you should be able to get it locally, assuming Meguiars has an authorized pro dealer in your area.

As Scott says the detailer line for Megs would go well here.

Last Touch QD can be diluted 2:1 with water.

Hyper Wash has a super low dilution ratio.

All seasons dressing has different dilution ration, im sure you can take advantage of them!

APC is pretty good.

The glass cleaner spray is very good and gallon will last along time.

You might be able to find or order gallon sizes of Duragloss products at your local Carquest or NAPA stores. The DG carwash is great, you can also use their sealants, QD or Aquawax.

While I love a lot of DG products, they're not exactly cheap. I would not pay that much for DG products to use on an ambulance that's not getting autopian-level care. Meg's Detailer line is a really good value IMO. It works as promised and it's cheap. If you're going to order a bunch of the Meg's detailer line in bulk, I recommend Rick at autodetailingsolutions.com

As far as odor eliminator/refresher, if you have a Sam's Club nearby check to see if they sell a product called OdoBan. Around here in SoCal, only a few of the Orange County stores have it for some reason? It's $10 a gallon, but you can dilute it to your desire. I use it 3:1 which is the strongest dilution, recommended for pet urine/fecal matter and I'm still on my first gallon. It's very economical and unlike a lot of other products that only masks the odor, this actually eliminates it. My father-in-law is old and doesn't wipe himself very well when he's done using the bathroom. He would used to go for more than a week at times without showering, so imagine the horrible stench he created in the house. I'm sold on this stuff. The downside to it is that at 3:1, the scent is super strong and might bother some people. I also hate the scent of the product (they say it's eucalyptus, but it's not exactly the same scent as that). It dissipates after a couple of mins though.

I would think your best bet would be to contact the owner of a local self-serve or tunnel wash. You can buy 5 gal of super concentrated shampoo for like $50 and it mixes like 120:1. Prices will vary of course, but that's gonna be your cheapest contact. Bulk can mean a couple things: Bulk quantities or case lots of consumer retail products or Bulk like for high volume (self-serve and tunnels). The chemical brands may not be familiar to you but you can rest assured they will do the job and if the operator/distributer is nice, he may give you samples.

I'll bet if you did a comparison between bulk & Autopian(boutique) brands for car soap, cleaners, tire dressings & interior dressings you wouldn't have a clear winner. The best would be the one that cost the least and did the job the easiest. The money you'll save could go towards new wash equipment where you'll really see the difference.

I would say find a bulk products distributor in your local area. My neighbor here in Portland works at Bob Nagel (http://www.bobnagel.com/). She works in sales and has described to me some of the things she does. Stuff like go out to your site and help assess your needs. Also I think they can provide samples of some products so you can find the ones you like. I know my neighbor has a few clients who own detailing businesses and can supply everything from chemicals to machines.

The meguiars detailer lineup would be the obvius choice.

Hyperwash for washing.

APC for interior and wheel cleaning.

The meguiars brushes would be good.

Could even get a gallon of last touch to spray on?

I like the idea of a pump concentrate system. I contacted CarBrite, awaiting their call back.

We tried using a concentrate from Warner, however our employees didn't exactly use the "concentrate" as stated, and we ended up using much more product than necessary, and I came into a big mess alot.

We do have a power washer, however without a bit of manual agitation, I am concerned that it would not clean as well as simply providing them a brush...knowing how my foam cannon works. It also is less than ideal for us to break the power washer out on a daily basis.

I'd also recommend Hi-Temp products (available from Top of the Line) as another good source for bulk products. Heck, some of their stuff you can order up in 55-gal drums. :)

Meg'd Detailer Line would be ideal; with their own dispensers and labeled bottles for ease of use.

Auto Detailing Supplies

Also; ChemicalGuys isn't too bad when purchasing by the gallon sometimes; but I think the Meg's Detailer would likely win out due to the dilution ratios.

I Like the Megs Detailer line, and thanks for the source to autodetailingsupplies.com I like the idea of the HyperWash, simply because of the dilution ratio, however is this a "one pump" type dispensing with an attached pump? I take it that HyperWash is much better rather than Super Soap?

The goal is to have a jug on a shelf above the bucket they use to wash. Push one pump into the bucket, and then fill with water to a line...

We can order online, it is usually easier for us rather than grabbing it locally.
