The bug sponges work great, just use a lot of soapy water... never dry. They need plenty of lubrication. I was hesitant at first, but no problems so far.
I actually use mini microfiber towels (or regular one) set aside for a tad more scrubbing action. Awesome control. I rinse on hi stream and make sure every iota of bug is off.
It works well. Especially if you use a foam dispenser and let the foam stick on the bug for a bit to soften it up.
