Is it save to use a DA polisher over for removing swirls on Embossed/Debossed lettering? I haven't encountered this yet, but saw a Chevy Avalanche with the big CHEVROLET embossed from the paint on the tailgate and was curious how one can safely do that area? Same thing on my TransAm, the PONTIAC on the rear bumper is debossed into the plastic...so how would i remove swirls from that?

embossed (sticking up) is a cake walk. Just do it like any other part of the vehicle. If using a D/A there's really nothing to worry about. debossed (sticking in) you might have to go in by hand and do it. pending on how tight the fit is.

OK, thanks. I was afraid that going over embossed letters was like going over painted edges-from what I understand, those are thinner paint areas.

Well, it can be a potential issue, even with DAs. Just a matter of degree. It's sure a lot safer than doing it with a rotary and I'd be concerned/not depending on the individual situation.

On the recessed areas, I always had to chase them by hand. The polish would usually get worked in there a *bit* with the polisher, but not enough.
