Buffing Dad's boat tomorrow...

I'll be using my PC 7424. I have a wool pad and a few orange/white/grey pads. Should I use any foam pads or no? Can anyone recommend any products that I can pick up at Boater's World or West Marine?

It's a 1997 23' Parker Sport Cabin. We've owned it for ~4 years and it's never been waxed, so it is badly oxidized. I tried some cleaner wax on it the other day, and it worked pretty good at removing the oxidation, but I'm wondering if I should use something stronger first, like a rubbing compound.



Feel free to give tips/suggestions, I've never done this before. How different is it than polishing my car?

I used a rotary to detail that boat(all boats usually) because gelcoat oxidation is very tough as it is to polish out. 3m finesse it 2 works pretty d*mn good on oxidation, even the 3m foam pad machine glaze.



Just something to think about.

If you haven't already, try running some searches on "gelcoat" or "fiberglass" and see if anything useful comes from this. I know this topic has been brought up in the past once in the odd while...
