Buffer for Applying product or just removal?

My next "detailing-fanatic" purchase will be a PC.......

Do you use the PC for:

1. Applying Wax / Polish?

2. Removing Wax / Polish?

3. Buffing only?

4. All of the above.....

If you use it for applying wax or polish, what is the advantage of applying by PC rather than by hand? (Applying by hand seems so easy.)

You can use it for all of the above of course, but I think the majority of people use the PC for polishing out defects as this is a real labor saver. A smaller number of people use the PC to apply wax and it some claim some advantage in thinness, evenness, and speed. An even smaller number use the PC to buff products off with MF bonnets or a new Brad B trick using a towel under a pad.

I'm not sure if you're differentiating "removing" and "buffing" to mean "dry buffing" the paint with nothing to remove and no product involved? I don't think anyone here does this.

I usually use my "low-end" buffer to polish, after I remove Z2 by hand.......using a little Z6 on the pad to bring out the shine.

Luster- I'm an "all of the above" RO user, myself. As for why I apply wax and sealants by machine, I've had shoulder problems in the past and started doing it then. I found I got possibly better results with much greater ease using the RO. It's not like I NEVER apply by hand, but for the most part, it's with the machine. It's just an easier and "faster hand", which is why I use it for polish/glaze application too. Think about how many times the pad goes around with the RO and imagine duplicating that by hand. Hey, that makes me think of Scottwax, who's at the other end of the hand/machine spectrum. You can get great results either way.

I've found removal by PC with MF bonnets to be imperfect at best, but it can be useful for first-pass removing the bulk of whatever and/or for a final buffing after removal by hand.
