bubbling on surface of pad when polishing

I'm fairly new to detailing and ran into an issue while polishing. After cleaning my car with HD Free, I primed an orange HD pad by misting it with Final Touch and added 5-6 drops of HD Uno. I spread the product over the small area I was working on with speed 1, then I adjusted the speed to 5 to start polishing. While the results were quite good, I noticed the flat surface of the pad (that contacts the paint) would bubble up where the drops of Uno were applied. I realize this is likely due to my technique but am not sure what I'm doing wrong, please advise.

I can't say what the exact reason for this is. It is clearly due to the uneven build up of product in the pad. Priming the pad will usually eliminate the issue.

It's my understanding that you should not prime the pad with either Touch or UNO to get the best performance--less is more with UNO. I use 4 drops for my first section then 2-3 for each additional section, clean the pad often and alternate between two pads to allow them to cool. Then half way through the car switch to a second set of pads and alternate between those two. All with Buff & Shine orange pads. This is all at speed 5-6 on a Groits and I haven't had any problems with the pads bubling up as you say or with the centers collapsing.

I see this with all products when using foam pads. Seems like the solvents that are localized within those areas are super-heating and causing this. To avoid, try backing off on work time or switch your pad out. I would also start with 3-5 drops of UNO and work a 2X2 area. Then add a couple more drops as needed AND make sure to clean your pad after each pass. The key is to buff clean, flat & avoid over-heating/working of the product.
