Brake fluid on wheels

I took my I30 to the dealer today to get a TSB done on my rotors. Picked the car up after the service dept was closed and noticed what I thought to be grease on the two front wheels. Thought I'd get it off when I got home because didn't have any rags with me. Get home and most all of it comes off, except on the passenger side rim. I have tried 2 different wheel cleaners and rubbed very aggressively with a microfibre towel. It appears to be into the finish. I think it is brake fluid (maybe). Does anyone have any suggestions on something to help remove it?? I am going to call the service manager first thing in the morning!!

Thanks!!

Rick

I don't know what chemicals you have at home but any light solvent like denatured alcohol or even a cleaner wax will clean off the the substance and neutralize it, assuming the worst (that it is brake fluid) and will not hurt the paint.

Another acid neutralizer is Arm and Hammer Baking Soda. Mix into a paste with water.

Yes, I would talk to the dealer because if they were careless it could harm the surface of the painted or clearcoated wheel.

If it was brake fluid, it would have eaten through any paint, clearcoat or colorcoat. A friend of mine had a car at his body shop that was vandalized by his client's ex-girlfriend...she poured brake fluid over the hood of his Mustang...not a pretty sight!

I would definitely call the service manager on this.
