Hey everyone. My front brembo brake caliper (black) has a few scratches. Is there something you guys can recommend to remedy this?

thanks in advance

melissa809- Are the scratches too bad to just polish out?

I've never tried touching up a caliper, but maybe some black "made for brake calipers" paint would match OK, but the trick might be to get it to stick. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd have to lightly scuff the area being touched up with some sandpaper, and that can be tricky to avoid botching up.

Melissa, touch up paint is most likely your best option depending on how bad the nicks or scratches are. I don't run across too many calipers with scratches in them unless cleaned with the wrong tools and by the wrong people. So they may be surface defects you can try polishing out first.

If not then pre clean with a non-chlorinated brake cleaner. Then apply the touch up paint, scuffing the area is usually not needed unless you'll be repainting a larger area.

A "hi temp" paint is not necessary. You can use the dealer type touch up paint.

Thanks guys! Yeah, the caliper got scratched...the person showing me how to do a brake job let the caliper hang and scrape against the ground. Needless to say, I did the brake job on the other side myself. Not too difficult...and I let the caliper rest on a jack stand with a thick rag on top. Also, I noticed a rock chip on the caliper....could be from normal wear and tear. So, I guess i will try and buff out the scratches and touch up the chip with regualarblack car touch up oaint.

Thanks again
