Someone was asking me about Boyd's products and I can't find them anywhere on the net. I remember seeing them at the autoparts stores a few years ago. Are they still around? Were they just private labeled products?

Good Point! Car care products. If I understand correctly I think they branched out from the wheels and such into car care as well. I did a search here and came up with a shampoo called Boyd's Ultra Violet Shampoo.

This guy said Boyd's Wax is known it the Hot Rod arena???

Boyds's Ultra Violet was a line of products sold only at AutoZone about 5 years ago. It had a Pre-Cleaner, Wax, Shampoo, Wheel Polish and a couple others I can't remember (I have a catalog buried in a file somewhere).

It started out at $40 retail for the wax.

Then $30

Then $20

Then $10

Then it disappeared. It was made by a private label manufacturer in Jacksonville FL. The rights to the name belong to a company out of San Diego at the moment, but no product has been manufactured in 5 years, so if you find any, it's old.

It was a great idea that didn't pan out (beautiful packaging, but a name that only meant something to hard core hot rod guys).

The Pre-Cleaner was the most abrasive product I had ever tested at the time. It literally ruined a test panel with one application.

yeah, i have a bottle of boyd's ulta violet carnuaba wax......its purple and claims to have "carnuaba beads"......i used it twice, and its not bad....i believe the picture on the bottle shows a shiny but cheezy yellow hot rod.

i ended up giving it away, cuz i bought blackfire and knew that i probably wouldn't use it. if it was really cheap, i would buy it and try it.
