bought PC 7336sp at Lowes today

I intended to post this as soon as I got home from Lowes. But once again, once I logged on to Autopia I got lost in reading various threads.

I bought the PorterCable 7336sp at Lowes for $109 +tax. That's the cheapest I've seen, on-line or not. Now I live in Southern Calif. so it might not be that way at all Lowes. It came with a backing pad and (1) screw on polishing pad (not sure I'll use that one. I'll buy a kit somewhere, maybe CMA.) Just thought I'd post this for those that might be on the verge of buying one.

$109 is a good price. I've read mixed things about the pad that comes on the PC. I've since ordered some from CMA.

How are you liking the AE?:wavey

The AE is great. Outstanding acceleration. I have the 6 and I love shifting. I had a '92 300 hp C4 so I did have something to compare it to. Today was a 80 degree day in So Cal so I had the top down. Not much surface area, no roof, so I thought sealing/waxing would be easy. Not easy by hand so that's why I bought the PC. Hopefully it will significantly cut down on my time detailing it. Ofcourse, I got the obligatory swirls from the dealer.

The screw on polishing pad isn't all that bad other than the nuisance of screwing it on and off. I have two polishing pads and two finishing pads from Meguiar's and have been quite happy with them. I do still use the screw on pad for Meguiar's #9, and it seems to do a good job. I didn't feel I had any need for a cutting pad so I don't own one.

My pad usage:

White screw on - Meguiar's #9

Meg's Polishing - S100 Paint Cleaner

Meg's Polishing - Klasse AIO

Meg's Finishing - Platinum UPP

Meg's Finishing - Used with MF towel for removing any and all of the products used. (Per Brad B.'s tip)

Meguiar's has a set of 2 polishing pads and 1 finishing pad for $24.95 + $5.95 shipping. You can add Meguiar's velcro backing plate for another $8, but I think you got a velcro plate with the PC you purchased.

Much fun, anyway

Thanks for the idea on what to do with the default pad Charles. I read the "definitive PC accessorizing" post by Brian. That really helped. Now I just have to wait for the weekend for some real time to use it.

Isn't that about the most informative post you ever read? One thing really stands out, totally unbiased. Just the facts and you make your own choices.

Yeah that post really hit home. Allowed me to make my purchase with confidence. But this whole site is like that. I can just get lost in here.
