Bottles?

Garry Dean

Garry Dean Quality!
Im going to place an order with usplastic.com and I need to know what bottles to order for compounds and polishes. What bottles do you use?

Excellent question and often never asked. I did some research into this. Many of my smaller bottles and even vendor bottles began to warp over time. They would cave in and become irregular.

The one thing they all had in common was they had the number 2 on the bottom. You know the number inside the recycle symbol? They are made from High-density Polyethylene

Stay away from those and look for the number 3 instead. They are made from Poly(vinyl cloride). I spoke with US Plastics explaining my dilemma and that I was putting car care chemicals in them. They recommended this bottle:

Clear PVC Round Bottles with Caps - US Plastic Corporation

I use these caps:

Coarse-Ribbed Flip-Top Cap - US Plastic Corporation

I have a few dozen in 8oz. size. They are EXCELLENT! Zero warping or disfiguring. Plus they are clear and not frosted like many other bottles. Trust me, stick with those bottles.

I hate those type of caps....the product dries up inside and when I go to pour some out it explodes on the pad or applicator. If I was too put in an order I would get some of

these caps...

I go to Joannes for bottles. They have a 2 pack of 6oz and I think a 10oz bottle for $1.33 or something. They're low density too so it fits my style :)

I like the 8 oz. flip top bottles from harbor freight...6 pack is like 3.50 or something..good bottles and caps!

agreed, i haven't had any problems with them...

(not meaning to spam)

Dodo Juice has some spraying bottles. Myself at Dodojuiceusa has them in stock and I have heard that autogeek might be going to get them.

Dodo Juices are a little more expensive however are high quality. There are reviews over on Detailing Bliss.

If you are going to put chemicals that have harsh solvents make sure the bottles you get have chemical resistant tops. Some of AG's are not however Dodos (trigger not finger spray) are.

Have you had any issues with thick polishes not wanting to squeeze through the cap opening?

I have not used the caps but

they are used on a lot of thick wood glues

so they should be fine for polishes/compounds

I've had no problem using that style. The polish usually slides back down the container anyway so that solves that thing :xyxthumbs

I like the look of those, but Im not sure being responsible for those red caps will be so easy, lol. Will polishes and or compounds dry out in the bottle if I lose the cap?

I use these...they are around .98 cents at walmart. I like the caps, and the bottles are pliable and do not seem to get brittle. These are nothing more than ketchup/mustard bottles found in the housewares isle.
