Scum-bag Crate & Barrel is giving me a headache over a $7,100 couch. I found out who the manufacturer of the couch is by grabbing a book from behind one of the check-out deks, McCreary of North Carolina, and contacted them to collect some information.
This is re-labeling. Crate & Barrel is just a retail store. They buy other peoples products, call them their own, then mark them up to the sky and sell them. Do you hear people shouting in the streets about this? Well, since they are F-ing me, you will now. I am preparing a You Tube video.
Well that sucks to hear that.
The world revolves around retail/marketing while a very small portion produces the product, especially if it is made in the USA.
Back 15 years ago, I worked for this sheet metal company and we produced many products for different companies. I was building all the metal parts for a big popular name brand computer company. When I went to the company, I was shocked to see how much of their products were all independent contracted. You would think a company that big would have manufactured all of their hardware, but nope.
We also produced light fixtures for name brand light companies and we would install everything and ship it to them. They then would inspect them and label them and re-package everything.
Why is this?
Simply the overhead. You have millions of dollars worth of machines, larger payroll, more insurance, more taxes, higher workers comp., larger facility, and the rest of the bills go up too to manufacture the product.
The wax market is still too small. If they were to invent, manufacture, market, and to do it all, they would have to sell a bottle for 100's to thousands to make a profit. Especially in this weak economy.
Take Zymol for example. They have to sell their waxes for a high profit in order to stay in business. If you are paying $2000 for a wax, that means they spent under $100 to produce it. If you don't believe me, then ask some manufacturers.
