BMW Silver 545i with 60/k complete detail

This Silver 545i showed some serious mileage pitting on the front bumper and headlight covers.

Process: 3000 grit with the air sander followed by compounding. I really like Optimum Compound's new formula for dust control. The shop where I detail is also a showroom and dust is a major problem with 3M compound

1st Pic shows dulling the surface with 3000 grit. I used a Snap On orbital air sander for the flat surfaces and a palm grip for curves.

Here's a shot of the bumper "dulled" after sanding.

One more shot...and I saw I left a couple of spots of product on the rear fender trailing the wheel..LOL

I did encounter a couple of things...1 bad and 1 a pain. The bad: I used the DeWalt Rotary and compound and burned a spot on the plastic mirror housing...didn't take much. The shop owner is super understanding and said "stuff happens...we'll get it re-painted." The pain in the rear was some splatter from the rotary that stuck like glue to the surface of the paint. I finally figured out that I was constantly washing the rotary's pads and not drying them sufficiently. When I spun the machine up, it was lightly spraying my work. Note to self: dry 'dem pads...they sling.
