The dealer got this BMW as a trade-in on a newer vehicle and the headlights really needed attention! 86,000 highway miles (and it looks like a couple of sandstorms).
I started with 2000 grit and that wasn't removing the pitting, so I switched to 600 grit and wetsanding and that worked. This was followed by a smoothing 2000 grit.
For product/polishing again, I started with an orange cutting pat on the Metabo and Diamondite glass restorer. Not working. So, I broke out the air rotary and a 3" wool pad with Meguiar's 105 compound....man, that worked like a champ. My time to completion dropped dramatically with the small wool/compound process. Finished with a foam pad and 105. I'll go back to the headlights with a pass of polish (Menzerna or 83) and a glaze pad, but they finished just fine.
The wool pad is resting on the bumper in the center of the car.
