BMW 335i Coupe... severe RIDS and swirls... and some Hard On Paint

Soo... I have a 335i that has some very serious RIDS and swirls. The color is Metallic Black. The immense amount of swirls and RIDS literally made the car looked like a grayish color.

Normally I wouldn't brag about my detail job... but what makes this worthy of a thread is the fact that this BMW paint is HARD AS HELL. Trust me, anybody who has worked with a black BMW e92 would know that this paint is no ordinary paint.

Here are the steps:

- Wash, clay, wash blah, blah, blah...

- three to four passes using M105 with solo Maroon Pad @ 2000rpm

- Orange cutting pad at 2000rpm on plastic panels and bumpers

- Orange cutting pad with UC and DA @ speed 6

- White Polishing pad with M205 with DA

- Jewel with Black finishing pad with M205 with DA

- NXT 2.0 with finishing pad

- some Pure Wax

Some of the RIDS required feathersanding using 2000 grit sandpaper:

So after a few number of passes with the maroon wool pad:

LOL! yeah, luckily the racing stripes disappear as soon as I drive away from the photo shoot area =P

I am a big fan of the Surbuf pad! But for this kind of job I feel that wool is probably more ideal. The car had more than just 2000 grit sanding marks... but some very serious RIDS and swirls. I am sure the Surbuf pad would have taken out the RIDS just fine, but the extra edge of a rotary made things a little easier...
