Black Porsches

First up, a brand spankin new 2007 Turbo

Porsche called and asked me to prep it for it's new owner. It was actually marred up pretty bad and had alot of hard water spots in the engine area so I spent Saturday doing most of the work and finished off a few things today.

I was told not to go all out, just get it "nice". So my first step was with the Cyclo, white pads and OCP. I then switched to blue LC Cyclo pads and again OCP.

The hard water spots were treated and removed with Optimums new hard water spot cleaner.....made easy work of them. I then washed the car down once more with No Rinse and waxed with a new version of OCW.

I have no BEFORE shots but here are 3 AFTER pics before it went into hiding until its new owner came for it.

I'm not sure about the new wheel style......it's nice but I'm not sure just how nice.

Next we have an 06 Carrera S and this one had a bit more marring, also some long, deep random scratches. I buffed this paint with the combo of my Metabo and my Dewalt, 4 different pads and OCP.

This is how the paint looked pretty much all over.

First I used a green cutting pad, OCP and ran at 1400 rpm's. I then switched to a blue polishing pad, 1200 rpm's. I did not remove the OCP after the pad changes but left it on through out the buffing process. Next came a black finishing pad, rotary at 1000 rpm's. Final rotary step was with a white ultra fine finishing pad, 1000 rpm's and again OCP.

I sealed this paint also with OCW.

Here are some AFTERs....I have done ALOT of P-cars lately and will have more pics to post up in the coming days.

Seriously, do you know in your experience how a $130K+ Brand New Porsche Turbo built just a few weeks ago would get marred and spotted?

Plz don't tell me its that detailer at the Porsche dealership using that red towel to wash and dry the turbo.

Hey thanks guys :)

Actually the Turbo was delivered that way, most likely came from port in that condition. It also had a buffer burn on the rear deck lid edge :nervous2:

The dealer detail guys were told not to touch the car.

As for the new OCW....it's the same BUT this new beta version doesn't have to be mixed..or shaken, although I still found myself shaking it  It's just something David mixed up as a "what if" type of deal. Not sure if it's going to go into production or not. I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Thanks again!

Anthony

Love the hood shot of the Carrera.

They are better than showroom new! Guess that's why the dealer called you!

Nice Work! :wow:

Yea, even my C2S when it arived from port was a bit marred from travel. Lucy for me the prep area at our dealer has a very talented detailer. Prior to the car arriving from port, I dropped off a new 32oz bottle of Menzerna P085RD for any polishing.

They did an outstanding job!

With Armorglove on it now since delivery has been a very big paint saver. The other day, as I moved the car, I forgot the damn curb by the garage protecting the downspout and hit it with the front of the Aerokit airdam. :shocked Then, as I backed into the garage, I hear this scraping noise :soscared: I get out and.... OH CRAP! the passenger side lower half of the Aero got ripped out of the airdam. OMFG! :furious: :furious: Now what? I looked at it and was so pissed. I find that I could snap it back in the airdam.. good... but the thing look nasty. Oh yea, I have Armorglov on it.. Peel the film off and WOW :wow: it took the majority of the damage. Now, it's not bad!.... But I DID order the GT3 part as it's a matte black. My part comes primed only to replace the Aero lower lip and has to be shot. Another $200 for a lower lip? Na.. I'll pass. I'll keep the GT3 one! :bigups

Funny the Turbo you did was black. Our dealer has a black one as well that I was wondering who got it. Not bad condition this time. Not too fond of the wheels or the front.

Anthony, once again, nice work and you can do my C2S anytime too! :bigups

Regards,

Deanski

Those both look great.

I really like the new Turbo, under 3.5 secs to 60 with the Tiptronic...its blistering fast. I'd love to be doing some AWD drifts with it.

I'm sure the new owner will appreciate the great job.

Excellent work all the way around, Anthony!

I take it you like the Optimum Water Spot Remover, eh? It works amazingly well, although I guess David is still tweaking it for better performance on glass.

awesome work.. at those high speeds and pads, how did you manage avoiding or did you get hologramming ?

Hey thanks again guys for the compliments :)

As long as I work down to a fine polish and really fine pad.....one that's not torn up on the face and edges, I get really minimal halograms. Then anything left can be removed with the Cyclo and LC blue pads.

Also, I usually use my Metabo for the final polish as this allows me to drop down to like 950 rpm's if need be. I go through ALOT of final finishing pads. The moment they get some tearing and frayed edges they get tossed.

If some of you guys are getting halograms and you are using a fine polish then check your pads condition. If mine hit the ground they get rinsed out, they are stored in zip lock baggies and then inside a sleeping bag pouch with drawstring.

Aww man, hate to hear of that Deanski but glad it wasn't as bad as first thought! I like the front end of the new Turbo but the wheels may have to grow on me.

Thanks for the confidence vote :grinno:

In full strength it can get rather smeary on glass but it is some pretty powerful stuff at full strength!! Mixed down 10:1 I am sure it would work well on glass as a regular cleaner, maybe even 12:1. I used it today on another Porsche which I just washed, used it on the rear plastic window and it worked well at removing the inside fog and some exterior water spots.

THanks again,

Anthony

Here's a '01 twin turbo that my customer bought with only 800 miles on it. It was swirl-free UNTIL he washed it..you know, Dawn, bath towels, dishrag...ugly.

Pic of car when I received it:

Another taped and polished

All Finished: I told the owner (whom I've known for 30 years) to NEVER wash his car again! He agreed and will bring me all his cars from now on.

I've seen more damage done in the wash process, especially black cars because they show problems quickly.

Thank you very much. I have another black Porsche to do in just a bit....IF he left it at the hospital for me :tumblewee
