thanks for viewing

customer texts me last night (@11:30pm-strange) to tell me that he washed his car and he is still very happy with how amazing it looks

he tells me he washed it with dawn dish soap!!!!!

ouch!

i even made him a list of products to purchase which he obviously didn't

i asked him to come by the shop today so i can check out the vehicle

hopefully i will have something to post about how the coating still holds up greatly even after a (assumingly) bad wash job with Dish soap if he shows up today or even sometime this week

Dawn... I know OC will hold up to it, but most the other coating out there will take a beating from it. Great work on the car! Let us know when you see an update!

thanks. yeah im hoping its okay..i cannot tell you how many times i told him to NOT ever use dish soap. and if he needed any free soap to just call me. i even gave him 6 oz of ONR and written instructions on how to use, along with DP waterless was RTU bottle.

for the money he paid to have the vehicle polished and coated i dont have any clue why an extra $30 to order the black label soap was an issue. i even offered to split the cost and bottle with him

but then again some people just dont listen-and i guess thats why WE do what WE do ,because we want it done right-and to last

i just hope the coating is not affected because i would be very sad.. i looked forward to posting 6 month, 1 year, etc updates on how the coating is holding up...now i have a strong feeling that he took probably close to half the life of the coating away and even possibly put some scratches in it with trying to wash

i put a lot of time into this vehicle and i just hope its okay

so now my question is....

can i use the black label surface prep polish as a maintenance polish? to maybe help whatever he took off with the dawn soap

it doesn't say this on ACC but on AG it says "Use Black Label Surface Cleansing Polish as part of your maintenance program for your preferred paint, wheel, or glass coating products. Thanks to its non-abrasive formula, the polish won’t abrade the surface, thus preserving the layer of protection created by the coating. It will remove staining and embedded dirt that has accumulated over time, rejuvenating the shine and boosting the impressive water-sheeting characteristics of the coating."

and would using it on a white (ultra fine finishing pad) rupes pad on the duetoo (probably speed 3) be okay?

Nice job.
Paint looked sort of "lifeless" before your work, now nice reflections and clarity

thanks ron- i just hope his dawn wash did not ruin the good work

the first time i detailed it earlier last year the vehicle recieved #7 and #26, and looked great
i chose to use 7 and 26 because the customer actually had both products and told me he did not like them so i felt like showing him how it would look when properly prepped and applied ;)

he did not believe i used the same products he purchased at the local auto store

I am sad to report that there will be no more durability updates on the coating for this vehicle. The customer just informed me that the vehicle was totaled last night.

Thankfully he is okay but he did say that even after being totaled the vehicle still looked "great".

Ouch, sorry to hear this... :(

To answer some questions on this thread though...

1) Yes, you can use Black Label Coating Prep Polish to clean coated surfaces.
2) If Black Label is cured, then washing with dawn will not effect the coating (strip it). However the water-flattening agents in dawn (design to prevent water spots on your dishes) can temporarily reduce the beading effect.

You may very well have helped him to get top dollar when his insurance totals it

Holey Moley, that's a pretty sad story for the owner. I was just about to comment that it was a very sharp looking car, and your work looked very nice..

Hopefully, they will claim it as a total loss, and make him whole again.
Glad he is OK, that's the most important thing.

He basically broke even.he is trying to get a 13-14 genesis coupe v6. And he wants me to coat that one as well once he gets it.
