Black H2-?

Hey guys, I will be doing a Black H2 on Monday, and have a few concerns.

-The last H2 I did had extremely thin paint, I verified it to not be a re-paint by going to the dealer and checking 3 others 05' and newer

-I want to make the paint as marr-free as possible, whilst not to diminish the longevity of the paint, ie. (removing too much clear)

-would you let the owner know that a swirl-free finish is possible, but is not recommended?

-to remove the swirls and not just fill them-

-What products/pads should I use out of the arsenal...

Menzerna FFII, IP, PG, Megs #82, PB PWC, Adams Revive, Swirl and Haze, OP, OC

-White, Yellow, Black, Red LC pads,

-Metabo Rotary, PC

I ask, only that the last H2 I did took 8+ hours just for the exterior! I had to find the find combo of products to do the trick without removing too much clear, excessive marring and not taking a week. The customers great so you know... Thanks for the help!

Any other tips or problems you have encountered with the mighty H2 please let us know!!

I would recommend you tell the owner a marr-free finish is possible but not recommended simply because they are a PITA to get truely marr-free. Horrible vehicles.

IME, their clear is plenty thick. Yould have to polish with wool at least 7 times to go through a quarter of the clear (corners are a different story if you aren't careful). Just the other day I removed nearly 20 microns of paint to "reduce" a series of gashes in a customer's door - no problem.

Rotary on flat panels, PC for hard to get to spots...keep both handy for the H2. Either way, they are a nightmare.

Thanks RAG, really they were thick? Car finishes differ so much even within the brands on the same vehicle. All the paint I checked was in AZ... Well anyhow, any suggestions on products pads?

I think I am going to clay,

-Polish with IP, yellow pad

-Polish with P0106ff, White pad then black pad if still not marr free

-FK1 #2180 with Black pad on PC, its the wifes daily, so I wanted to go with the best protection possible,

-Then the chrome on this thing alone (brush all 4 corners, roof head lamp ramp, wheels etc...) enough for 2+ hours, thinking Adams Blue/Red liquid...

I saw a 'detailer' @ the local Hummer dealer burn right through the clear on a black H2. He clearly didn't know what he was doing. Watch for thin clear.

I'm SURE you'd have to remove 30-35 microns of paint to get that result. And that's hard to do...but dealership detailers seem to have a special talent this this :lol

That is some heavily damaged paint! I mean, some dealers seem to just give a rotary, wool pad and some compound to a new hire:waxing: , and say "Ok have fun"
