Black Box vs Meguiars Black Wax

These two products use the same method of action correct? Basically hiding scratches?



I've been a longtime lurker, and read a lot from Mike P from Mequiars.



Thought we moved past these "faux" solutions?

Both are consumer products, so hiding is the name of the game. Not really a bad idea on black either, unless you are maintaining a show car, its going to have imperfections.



Nothing wrong with concealment as long as the owners knows what is going on.

Meguiar's online would be a better source of info for the black wax.

No, not correct.



Turtle Wax says the Black Box products are tinted. I would assume that they are implying that's part of the effect.



Meg's Black Wax is a cleaner/wax and glaze. It's not meant to change the color at all. You can use it on white cars too.



The cleaners can actually remove swirls (not sure how aggressively, though). The glaze is intended to add depth and richness.

You can't use it on white cars though. There is a black wax and a white wax. That's why i assumed it had some sort of filler in it specific to dark colors in the black wax and light colors in the white wax...

^^^ I will go ahead and admit I was wrong... That's what happens when you assume I guess lol.



After a little research via meg's forums I found that the difference between the 2 is that the white is more of a cleaner wax AIO where the black wax is more of a polish AIO.



It seems like their reasoning for this is that dark to black cars need the paint smoother for the best reflection and light to white cars need more cleaning power to look their best.



Either way from the way people talk over there neither is a very durable wax and they are more AIO products rather than wax...
