Black Audi A8 (Another Wet Diamond Car)

So, I've been meaning to get to my brother-in-law's Audi A8 and today was FINALLy the day. Unfortunately, I was short on time so I could not and did not do a full correction (which this car desperately needs).

The car is black, COVERED in swirls, but what is more important is that it is also covered in RIDS. Some seem VERY deep. I won't go through my entire process, but I'll just cut to the chase.

I started by taping off a few test spots to see what was going to work best. I tried M80 and it couldn't even dent the very hard Audi paint. Up to M83, with little results.

I decided to move up to M105 with a 4 inch LC flat orange pad, followed by M205 with a 4 inch LC flat white pad. This combination was good because it removed almost all swirls and helped with many of the RIDS.

HOWEVER, it MUST be pointed out, my pics will not show that the car was NOT close to perfect. I felt as though getting this car show car perfect was beyond my skills, tools and abilities. I did the best I could with my G110 and the M105/M205 combo.

I *may* have been able to remove more RIDS, IF I spent more time with M105, but I didn't have the time to spend. We started late (my bro-in-law helped) and there was just NO time for multiple passes of M105, followed by M205.

After M205, I went straight to my new fave and slapped some Blackfire Wet Diamond on the car. I really like the result, even though the car is not perfect.

Looks very nice in the pics, what did you think about the BF on black, which is obviously the true test?

I thought it was amazing on black. Darkened the paint slightly but the biggest difference in person was "wetness" it added to the paint. I had three different people look at the car and all comment on how "wet" it looked.

My only issue with this job was that I didn't have the skill and tools to make it perfect. The RIDS on this car are so bad, it *might* even need to be wet sanded, but that is WELL beyond my skills so I did the best I could.

My brother-in-law helped me remove the wax and he commented a few times at how he couldn't believe how easy it was to remove.

Audi paint is no joke! Looks good.

Is that a "clear" bra on the front? Why is it so dark?

Yes, that is a clear bra in the front and I'm not sure why it so dark. I didn't touch that area. I taped over the area where the bra ends and paint begins and didn't touch the bra, as I was unsure of what to do with it.

Your pics look great. I think you did a great job regardless of the time spent. Viva Blackfire!

Looks good to me. Im sure if the car is that hammered its a driver and not a show car. As long as its not a swirly driver its all good in my book.

Thanks guys! Here's the thing... I'm not one to hide behind slick photography. I know we've all see the so called "detailers" who will never show you a picture of the car in full sun.

I would have loved to tell you guys I made this one perfect, but it's just not true. I lack the skill, experience and tools to have made this bad boy perfect.

I think I made it look good, but nothing like what a lot of the work I see you guys doing. I have total respect and admiration for the pros who take detailing to an art form!

I guess that is why I am so particular about my LSPs. I need ALL the help I can get, so that is why I like products like Wet Diamond... they can even make a schmuck like me look like I know what I'm doing.
