Black 1999 VW Golf

Today's detail was a black 1999 VW Golf. Car was filthy, swirled, and had a fair number of scratches near the door handles most likely caused by somebody who liked to wear big rings :nervous2:

Car was driven by young woman, and the Dad brought me the car because he wasn't too pleased with the condition his daughter was keeping the car. Now that it's cleaned up he hopes she'll keep it up.

Tried M105 by hand on the scratches and was pleasantly surprised how well this worked by hand and terry cloth.

Tried M95 with green Edge wool at 1500 and thought it did a decent job, although on the black VW paint it left quite a lot of holograms. Followed with Edge Blue wool and HT Smooth Cut at 1500 and then Edge blue foam. LSP was OCW because by this point my shoulders were spent and I wanted something easy on/off.

All of it. I own a 2001 Jetta and had my share of F'd up VWs. Those interiors are terrible to clean.

Agree, the upholstery is extremely pourous and absorbent. Absorbs all the cleaner, making it hard to clean the surface and you need to deeply extract to pull it all out.

I think their carpet is the hardest to clean out of any other automaker. Your spray your cleaner of choice and its like it just disappears :nervous:

I agree i hate cleaning the carpets in VW's.If you use compressed air and a blow gun it helps on getting all the dirt out.

To be honest, I struggled more with the fabric on the seats than the carpets/matts. They seemed like super-absorbent porous fabric covered foam. Any liquid cleaner just soaked completely in immediately.

Wow--this is good to know.

I haven't encountered a filthy VW interior yet. Now I know to dread it. lol

Those door handle scratches were hideous. It almost looks like malice was involved!!! Great job fixing them.

I hope she appreciates what her dad sprung for.
