bittersweet weekend for the cobra (RMG + Souveran, 56k = death)

spree

well...on Saturday I was over at Autozone picking up a few things. The geniuses over there decided to have this red gate protruding into the parking spot I was about to park into. Unfortunately, I didn't see the gate until it was too late :cuss:

I thought I'd have a nice body shop bill in my future...but I got out to inspect it and here's what it looked like:

Nothing a claybar and some SSR2.5 can't take care of :-p

after claying...

after SSR2.5 (that scratch penetrated through the paint...nothing I can't fix with some touchup paint and a lil wetsanding)

As you can see, owning a PC7424 can pay for itself in cases like this. I'm sure a body shop would've charged me at least $300 to repair this.

I felt sorry for my car, so I gave it some new billetflow pullies and a tune :D

...and I gave it a full detail job yesterday.

Wash with P21S shampoo

Clay with Wolfgang Clay

Poorboy's SSR2.5 with PC7424 cutting pad

Clearkote RMG with PC7424 polishing pad

Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax by hand

(you can't even see the scratch in this pic)

Overall, I was extremely impressed with RMG and Souveran. RMG made my paint a shade or two darker, and it works wonders on plastics. Souveran is great too...I don't know if it's worth the $70, but it came on and off with ease and my car looks better than it ever has.

I think that your car looks impeccable! Very god job. I think I will pick up some RMG for myself (after I finish up the Menzerna Glaze :D )

Wow, great repair and detail, it looks outstanding. RMG is really becoming a hit, glad to see that you had some success with it as well.

Oh man, NICE SAVE!! That's just downright awesome. I actually did the exact same thing with my black Expedition but unfortunately, I had some really deep scratches and dent in the plastic bumper that the body shop had to repair.

Absolutely beautiful car. If had to choose your year cobra, it would be identical to yours. I'm a sucker for black, can you tell? :o

At one point we had four cars in the driveway. The neighborhood thought we owned a funeral parlor or something! :shocked

Anyway, great detail, nice repair, and very nice car. All you need now is Basani exhaust! :xyxthumbs

Almost forgot, next time put some Wolfgang between your RMG and Souveran for an extra wet finish that lasts a long time.

Outstanding work! Nice job taking care of that stuff and excellent detail on the paint, it really looks liquid!

Did you notice RMG kind of disappears as you work it in? The paint really has a nice glow when it does. BTW, it works well by hand. I had a couple Harleys to detail on Sunday and I used RMG, EX-P (let it sit a full hour while I polished chrome) and topped with Paste Glaz. :)

Just top your car about every 4-6 weeks to keep the Souveran glow.

Great job!!! when I saw the first pic I was kind of  but the next ones were great! how do you find the rmg so far? i love cobras..my dream car!!!:woot:

:woot: nice save! i think you should also treat your cobra to a nice set of exhaust tips too. ;) and enjoy those pullies! :xyxthumbs

nice save but id keep a close eye on that paint becuase it will have a high chance of spiderwebbing later in life due to the stress it went thru during impact
