have any of you bissel users have had problems using other carpet clearner than bissel's own ?

i ask this cause, mine cracked right under the soiled water collection tank, in the pipe/duct which leads to the rubber coupling.........and this after only 14 days of use :(

yet i should mention that i have used other cleaner than bissel, for the last 4 days, and in the owner's manual, they say that one should use bissel only cleaning solution, failure to that would/could lead to plastic damage....so i wonder if this incident is all coincidental, or if it s caused by the solution other than bissel that i have used............please let me know if you ve been using the machine with cleaners other than the one bissel makes, and if things have been working flawlessly since then...........thanks

best regards :wavey

Chip not sure why you had a problem sounds like a defect. I use carpet cleaner mixed with oxy clean, had my machine for months no prob on many uses.

Yeah, it's not the result of using NON-Bissel solution. I use LOTS of different solutions in Bissels and I've never had a problem.

Rather than use the solution tank siphon I apply all my shampoo by hand with a pump sprayer. I have had the bissel for 10 years and works fine. Only problem is the cheap plastic wheel finally cracked and fell off. I am ready for a hot water extractor at this point.

Bissel's solution is overpriced and does a crappy job! I have used AutoMagic HD Upholstery Shampoo and CAR Products Upholstery Shampoo in my Bissel little green machine with no problems whatsoever for the last 5 years!

Well, thanks all for chiming in on the bissel thing.........you confirmed what i already thought to be true, that the bissel solution isnt much of an effective carpet cleaner, and that the machine accepts other solutions, with no problem whatsoever..........by the way, i now have a brand new one, the store policy is no hassle, so everything is fine now :D :xyxthumbs

this place, is great, do i love it !!

take care

This Bissell thing is crappy crap. Used it...returned it.

Instead I use a 6.5HP Crafstman wet/dry vac with 1000x the suction power. I drench floor mats with water and cleaning solution. Scrub and extract with the vacuum. Nearly bone dry! I wipe it down with a towel and after an hour in the sun, it's completely dry.

On the floor, I mist with solution and a LITTLE distilled water. Scrub and extract. Again, great results.

Takes more muscle than a true extractor, but BLOWS AWAY the Bissell thingy.
