Bird Poop Turns into Cement

Black 2007 Honda CR-V
I was at the mall for about an hour the other day. I come out to discover a bird had pooped right on the hood of my new black Honda. In 15 minutes, I'm home with the hose trying to rinse it off. In that amount of time, it had hardened into the consistency of cement. Unbelievable!! I think it must have baked on because it was a sunny day around 90 degrees outside. After washing the car today and using PB S&W several times, there still is a remnant of the cement poop on the hood. Has anyone else had this problem with poop turning into cement?

In some cases I have had some really stick hard on the surface...I wash the best that I can then us clay to get the rest off

I think it might be time to trade that puppy in.:surrender

Try a razor blade or brillo pad.:wow: :D

If all else fails, some gasoline and a match will work.

seriously, bird poop just needs to be soaked with car wash soap or spray wax. It does soften if you keep it wet while your washing the rest of the car. I have used a pressure washer for so long that I forget about the problems that you have without one.

Thanks for the advice, Troy. Soaking seems to be the key to removing bird poop and bug guts. It sure works wonders when I wash the pots and pans with dried on food! I'll try that next time.

You might want to talk to Poorboy's about their Bird Sh#t Remover. I always keep a bottle of it and a couple microfiber towels in the car at all times. It works well and cuts down the damage that the droppings can cause.

The few times that I have had a real problem, I used warm water for the soak solution. Seems to work much better. (Just like warm water works better for the pots and pans. :))

Thanks Charles. I'm new to all this car washing and detailing stuff. Warm water makes perfect sense. I'll try that next time along with soaking.

What I do if your in direct sunlight...

Soak a rag in the solution, fold it a few times and let it sit on top until it's softens and then attempt to clean it off!

I have had good luck using a vinegar and water combo...I mix 2 cups of vinegar in a 32 oz bottle with rest water...I dampen a cloth with it and lay it on the hardened crap..the slight acid in the vinegar dissolved the crap....then wipe area with a QD and re wax the area....

I know this thread is old and you probably already have solution. From the spring to now the fall I've used "Rod and custom show gloss creme and a Chemical Guys product called SPEED WIPE SPRAY & Streak Free QUICK SHINE (Anti Static) (1 Gal) for $21.00. The bird crap that hardens slides right off when spraying the Chemical Guys stuff.I bought Meguire's Ultimate detailer and now I just buy the other stuff at $21.00 a gallon. The meguire's was $10.00 for 22 oz's.
