Big Shine, Good Durability LSP...?

Okay so I am looking for a new wax. I had been using Natty's Blue, but I never liked it because the paste had "crumbled", and was hard to apply to my applicator. I had won some Griots "Best of Show Wax", but it sucked.. smelled mostly like alcohol or some other hydrocarbon.

I have read and read and read and I am trying to decide on something new. My detailing partner wants Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax.. but I persuaded him away from that. It looks great at first and is very warm (which is what we want... our clientele doesnt care 2 weeks down the road if their paint still beads), HOWEVER I want to offer some more value for money.

I have narrowed it down to:

FinishKare 1000

Collinite 845 (my original choice)

and Collinite 476s

Any other choices? I am looking for something that is around $25 a tin or a bottle. Any reason why I should go with one more than the other? I dont care as much about durability as I do initial shine. I want to impress our clients when they get their vehicle back and emphasize paying for a wax job is truly worth it.

Please share any opinions!

I am going to say HD POXY - Good durability, and the look will make you and the customer smile. You as a detailer will be impressed. Poxy looks that good.

What durability can you expect out of Poxy? Both on a garage queen and a daily?

Garage queen? I have seen a car with Poxy on it sit at a dealer (Used) for over a year before it finally sold. The final wash I gave it went easy, the water was still sheeting like on a freshly waxed car. It was always inside except for test drives in rain and on sunny days. The one thing that I found amazing was the tires. I used HD Tire Gel on them. Still black!!!! Of course that was only because of the low miles, but still.

Anyway, on a daily driver, I'd say 3 to 6 months. 3 months here in the rainy season, more anywhere else. :D The rain here kills everything.

845 is the way to go if you want durability. Its super easy to apply and remove and won't stain trim. Poxy is another good choice, still very durable but it has way more wow factor when first applied.

I use all three of those and which one I choose for a given application depends on the specifics of that application. But I consider all of them "durability" waxes and as for their looks, that's just eye-of-the beholder stuff and different people will prefer one over the others on certain paints. I've had folks simply *rave* about how all three look: dealer calling me up because other customers wonder why their new car doesn't look as good as my '93; strangers running across a parking lot to ask what's on my "is that aq new paintjob?" SUV; my Jag Club pal saying his showcar didn't look that good right after its paintjob...those three comments were regarding 845, FK1000P, and 476S in that order.

Having only tried 845 and FK1000P between those three, I would give the nod to FK simply based on it's durabaility/resilience and shedding characteristics. ....although I'll be the first to admit that I probably wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between the two simply based on aesthetics.

My vote goes to Finish Kare 1000P Hi Temp Paste Wax. Despite what I've read, it is easy for me to apply and remove by hand and creates a very durable shine. I agree with those who say it looks like an extra layer of clear coat. After curing/cross linking for two days, it looks amazing and gets comments from non-car people - on both a Dark Shadow Gray metallic Mach 1 and an Oxford White F250.

And, three coats last through an entire Wyoming winter. (I just wanted 100.00% coverage.)

Haha thanks guys.

Yeah 845 is what I wanted for the longest time, then I got on here and started reading... oh no. lol

So we detail outside in the Sun, will 845 have problems with this?

POXY is what you want. I'm a big fan of 845 but POXY kills it for looks and still great durability, stupid easy to use - even in full sun.

IIRC Poxy is trim-friendly and some people get decent durability out of it. But 845 can do a bit of concealing, and I don't recall anyone saying that about Poxy. Not :argue just bringing it up...

Some did say that poxy hides. I never experienced that, but I would take the look of poxy anytime over a bit of concealing plus Tunch always works on improving the durability of both HD LSPs so my vote is POXY.

Yeah, I never seem to notice the 845-concealing that others claim either, but I hear it so often that I pass it along anyhow.
