the GTR is just a few months old. she was brought in to clean up some dry wax left by the dealership & to apply a fresh coat of wax for the winter.

there are very little swirls on the car so i suggested to hold off on any polishing for now. these cars are known to have a clear coat that is soft like melted butter. must avoid any machine polishing till she needs it!

hand wash, clay magic blue, #0000 steel wool exhaust tips, opti-bond tire gel

clear bra - lightly clayed, dry wax in the crackies cleanup + 845

Does 845 stain trim?

Depends on what you mean by 'stain'? It (#845 Insulator)turns trim that is gray a darker color but doesn't seem to turn it white or off-white.

It will actually shine up gloss trim. I guess I should note that any plastic that is really bad will soak up whatever you get on it...

Now the #SS126 Sapphire will cast a bit of a white residue...

I'm sure it doesn't mean much but #845 is my preferred wax.

Awesome Big A!

These metallic paints are fine to polish - at least that is my personal experience.

i know they are but if the swirls are so light a polish wouldnt make much of a difference then id rather hold off on that for now. im sure after the winter theres going to be some swirls to polish out. id like to worry about those at another time. =)

I've been using it since 1973. Has never stained trim for me.

Some of us use it protect black plastic...never had an issue with it, Jimmie.

Cool car, Andy, and nice job on it !! I don't think I've ever seen that color. They all seem to be that same gray in my area.

ive been using this wax for a long time. if some wax gets on the trim during application, it cleans up right away & quick with just water or some glass cleaner to make sure you clean it up real good. i never applied it on trim on purpose so i dont know how it is on plastic pieces.

Looks really wet!

Agree with you on the polishing. Winter = protection, spring = correction

At least where there is a risk of winter weather.

Great work on a sweet ride! I agree with protecting in the winter and polishing in the spring as well. From my experiences the metallic black on GT-R's is actually medium hard an not too bad to polish, it's the jet black that is soft as butter and can be a pain to finish.

thanks! garage kept cars hold up so much better than outside stored ones.
