Best wax/sealant for new red paint?

well i finshed the car yesterday and im quite unhappy with hd nitro seal. my hood is covered in streaks....not sure what i did wrong. and in the end even areas that are not streaking do not look any different then when they didn't have nitro seal on in.

Nothing is more disappointing then streaks.....Maybe I can help? Can you explain in detail exactly the process you used to apply the Nitro Seal? I've applied NS to dozens of cars and haven't had any streaking?

I also called PPG last week for a client who was given bad info from his paint supplier. Their tech guy told me 90 days before waxing/sealing, but he might not be familiar with Optimum products and was giving their standard answer.

hmmm my painter told my 30 days..... maybe i'll just wait 60 days then.

My Porsche restoration painter (he uses PPG) told me 30 days on a panel(s) that he personally paints.

Yeah, last I heard Ford had approved OCW for use on post-production paintwork. .

Strange (but very predictable) how there are such mixed opinions on cure times within PPG? Who can you trust? I have a feeling that most paint reps are not familiar with the latest technology in protectants?

My one body/paint shop is now using the water-based PPG stuff (and it's leading to all sorts of issues, maybe just a learning curve thing but I'm still unhappy). The painter there thinks I should stick with my 90-day approach as they're getting come-backs after a few months because of problems that weren't apparent sooner. In fact, as I post this I'm awaiting the return of my wife's A8, which needed its front bumpercover redone over problems that weren't visible a while ago.

i never got around to updating this so here it is. turns out the issue was the temperature and me doing it by hand. the combination made it extremly difficult to spread nitro seal evenly and end with no streaks. i reapplied parts b a few days later early morning by hand and got better results.

one thing i can say is nitro seal leaves some crazy water beading. A+ in that area. though next time i may try something else. here are some picks from different angles

Cars gorgeous dude!

I used Nitro Seal for the first time yesterday too. I agree that it's kind of a PITA to apply by hand. It spreads so thin it's hard to see where the product is applied and where it's not.
