hey guys i wanna know what's the best wax on black on a daily driver?

I know Souveran is very good but not too well in durability (on a DD)

how about Clearkote Carnauba moose wax? Poorboy Natty's?

or some other suggestion?

If durability is your key driver, i would suggest a sealant. I like the crisp reflectuion of a sealant better on black anyway. This is personal preference. You could top sealant with a carnuba. Some here say it creates a warm look. I prefer the clarity of straight sealant.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend, and even that is not a guarantee that the more money a wax costs the better shine it gives. I recently composed this list of "best" waxes and sealants, based upon what others seem to be saying about them and on my own very limited experience. My bet is that you won't go wrong with any of these waxes, though some will be more durable than others.

Given that this is a daily driver, I would suggest that you consider Collinite 915 or 845. Both will give you great durability. 915 came in second place against expensive competition in Dave KG's great wax test a year ago. Autopia's Rydawg is, I believe, a great fan of 915. 915 will take you through the Wisconsin winters!

How important is durability for you? Do you mind washing once a month during the non-winter months? If not, then you might want to get a summer wax and a winter wax. I do love Souveran on my black S2000, and it's incredibly easy to apply and remove; but you will want to apply a fresh coat every month. Natty's Blue would be a more economical summer wax choice, but it too will need to be re-applied monthly (from what I have read). An economical wax I really like is Harly Wax.

Good luck and have fun!

sealant w/o the plastic look= blackfire wet diamond

carnauba for durability= colinite

carnauba that fills=nxt

spray wax= prima hydro (slight fillers)

I think most people will find it a bit tough to keep black flawless enough for a sealant, so I'd lean towards a wax, probably with some kind of glaze in most cases.

So that means Collinite, pretty much *any* Collinite.

If a black vehicle doesn't look OK, it won't be because it has Collinite for its LSP. Rather, it'll be because the paint is too marred up.

there are sealants that do fill

BH autobalm, prima hydro, prima banagloss just to name some.

but i agree with accumulator sealants and black swirls cars = :barf:

at the very least lay a synthetic glaze

Heh heh, product technology is passing me by again...of those I've only heard of the BH and I thought that was a wax :o

Autoglym SRP is an AIO that does a bit of filling. I wouldn't be surprised if you could top it with some other sealants besides their, uhm...whatever it's called. I've used FK1000P over SRP and it seemed to go OK.

thanks guys!! I will definitely try them out myself !!

btw I want to know what is the right method of applying paste wax by hand? Any written directions that I could learn from?

Also, what would u guys reccomend for a hand applicator?

Thanks again

Foam applicators gives even thin coats. My black Lexus is a freeway daily driver. Currently I only use KSG. It's a great sealant that last at least 6 months + (as it states). It's proof of: heat, shrink, detergent, scratch, chip and etc.(as it states). The protection is great. Gloss is good on well preped car of course. But I got the urge to put Natty's Blue this weekend. :)
