Best products to purchase for a start up detailing program?

Hey guys,

I am going to open up a detailing business in two locations and am wondering which product selection is the best. There are many websites out there offering what look to be good products. I want to buy in bulk and receive a discount if possible. The detailing we will be doing is very basic for now.

Interior: Vacuum interior and trunk, clean exterior windows, dash, steering column, and door jams are cleaned, vinyl/leather treatment, all trim cleaned, odor treatment.

Shampoo: All floor mats and carpets.

Exterior: Hand wash and chamois dry, clean and dress tires, engine cleaning, removal of tar, bugs and road grime, polymer sealant, washer fluid filled, machine polish and buff, which includes removal of minor scratches in clear coat (scratches or scuffs require wet sanding extra) and add polymer sealant.

Also, as far as waterless products is there any difference in your reccomendation.

I have always recommend going with Meguiar's products for the start up detailer. They have everything you need and alot of them get be brought in gallons to save money. Once you have been around and have a good to great customer base then you can move up and get more products for your customers cars like Blackfire, Optimum Polymer Technologies and more at the great Autopia Car Care Store. Welcome and have a great time with us here at the Autopiaforums.:welcome:

i agree with angelo, you can't go wrong with meguiar's as a start up for price, quality, and sheer amount of products available. welcome to AF !

I agree with Megs, it's what I started out with and still use today. Once you get good at it, venture out and try different products and compare to Megs.

meguiar's is good start, but there are others as you mentioned try a few samples find out which ones work best for you.3m comes to mind for the over all.they have a complete detailing line, they are very shop oriented and have been around a long time.o yeah they happen to own meguiar`s also so what ever you go with make sure there is a profit in it.welcome to af.

If your not sure, maybe a call to Autopia Car Care and ask for Todd. He can bring idea's to you when starting a collection of products that won't break the bank.

Since you are a start up and interested in buying bulk, and hopefully making good profits, you should also purchase without shipping fees to maximize your profit.

Depending on your location, an Auto Magic Distributor is worth checking out.

I also say go for the bulk Meguiars products.

When I started, I also used the bulk DP line as well as they are great products and very good prices.
