best product for chrome polishing?

I have chrome 22's on my truck my truck, and unfortunately didn't have any option but to drive them through some pretty nasty weather this winter. I washed my truck today for the first time in at least a month. After cleaning the wheels (pre soak with APC, wash with GC soap and APC mix) I was left with some areas of contaminate still on the wheels. It's kind of a milky looking subtance that can be scratched off with my finger nail, but it takes some work. I'm thinking of investing in a power ball and some good chrome polish to get rid of this stuff and bring my wheels back to a pre-winter shine. Any suggestions?

Another question I just thought of, can never dull be used on chrome?

Coca Cola, yes Coca Cola is a good polish for really bad looking chrome. Like if the chrome is really oxidized bad. The pH level in coke is just above 3 so it has some oomph and gets chrome looking pretty nice.

I have the same issue with my truck's chrome weld wheels. The powerball mini works better with AIO I've found than the few chrome/metal polishes I have. I do use nevr dull first on those nasty areas and it works well and doesn't scratch.

I've never heard of Coca Cola. Thats interesting. A pH of 3 means it is acidic correct?

Yep, its acidic...very acidic! Some time ago I tested it with Litmus paper and confirmed its acidity of about 3. Pure vinegar was 4...meaning less acidic. From that day on I stopped drinking coke, except for rare occasions when I weaken. Imagine drinking a bottle of vinegar with 10 teaspoons of sugar in it - that's what Coke is. Unfortunately, it tastes so good!

On the original subject of chrome, I prefer Mothers Chrome Polish unless the chrome has surface corrosion. It won't scratch, cleans well, leaves a bright finish and a layer of polymer protection.

On chrome that's slightly corroded, I like Megs Metal Polysh.

The only two that I've tried are Autosol and Griot's, and I've been pleased with both. They do a good job of getting exhaust crud off at least.

As long as the wheel is steel you can use 000 gauge steel wool. I have chrome steel wheeles on my truck and when they are that dirty that is what I use. You can polish after with whatever you want.

yea, it's the old-school way to do it

but most polishes work better and will leave some protection on the chrome

i use some turtlewax chrome polish from walmart on my chrome rims. It shines very well and its only 1.96 so its just perfect for me, last forever to and easy on easy off
