Best polish for silver cars?

What would any of you recommend for silver paint? Right now Im using Klasse SG topped off with about 3 layers of P21S Carnauba (not a polish but so far it looks pretty good.)

I do have the AIO as well. What im trying to ask is.. What would you suggest using to give silver paint the wet deep glossy look?

I *do* think we need to specify what "polish" means in this context

IMO the #1 thing for silver is to truly effect very good correction. It's incredibly difficult to see light marring on silver and unless you get the marring squared away you don't stand a chance of really getting a great look.

Unless you correct all the marring you fall into the silver/white trap: it's easy to attain/maintain ~80%; the vehicle looks pretty good and the job is easy- and *maybe this is enough*. But to get it *REALLY* nice you have to *really* work at it because it's harder to see what's going on with colors like this and the differences that matter are pretty subtle.

So...get the lighting sorted out so you can see the paint's true condition (and spend a while altering viewing angles/distance until you get it right, five minutes per panel per inspection isn't unreasonable and that's a *LONG* time). Correct all the marring. Then burnish/jewel with a finishing polish if you really want that last ~5%.

THEN give some thought to the LSP. I only like the Klasse twins on certain silvers (yes on Mazda, no on Audi). I have mixed feelings about topping KSG with wax anyhow, and I really don't think that sealant/wax combos are the best way to go on this color in most cases.

That's interesting that you don't prefer it on a German paint finish. (One would think that the Klasse twins were MADE for German paints....)

How about BMW and M-B silvers?

I just don't like how the KSG looks on the Audi, just doesn't (at least *didn't* the one time I tried it) look quite the way I want :nixweiss

Never tried it on a silver BMW or Benz as I was using different LSPs when I had those cars in silver.

Any LSP is gonna be OK on modern b/c paint..German, Japanese, US, I don't think it matters whose paint is on the car; what matters is what looks good to *you*. Plenty of people here *like* the Klasse twins on silver Audis, different people like different looks.

Other than the prep, IMO the stuff that matters is the degree of metallic, the texture of the paint, how light/dark it is, stuff like that. Not where it was built.

Anyhow, there are a lot of different "German paints"...Glasurit and Spiess-Hecker come to mind. And I have no idea if a BMW built in Germany has the exact same paint as one built in the US.

Thanks for the advise accumulator. Would you recommend sonus SFX-1&2 as a good corrective polish? I did a detail a few months ago with sfx-1&2 using sfx-1&2 pads. And topped off with KAIO and SG. It looked pretty good but wasnt sure if I could do better. If It makes a difference.. I have a titanium silver BMW 540i. I like the Klasse combo.

Sorry, but I don't have any experience with the Sonus pads :nixweiss

Do you mean wax?

Sorry I really am a bit confused and looking for a wax for a silver car, and was just wondering.

There are a few waxes that usually look nice on silver. I'm using #16 on my wife's A8 and 3m Showcar Paste Wax looked nice on it too. Her fave on it is Souveran but that doesn't last long. Collinite 845 is OK but I don't really like 476S on silver.

For sealants, I like UPP the best so far, but I haven't tried all that many; Klasse is OK on some silvers, BF darkens too much for my taste, haven't tried FK1000P yet but I expect to like it.

But again, it depends on the silver, they're all a little different (ditto for people's opinions).
