Best pad choices for OPT Hyperpolish

For those of you who've been using Hyperpolish (or hyper compound for that matter), what pad choices have you found work best for given situations?

Here's my particulars for reference:

Cars: 2010 Lexus IS350C Ultrasonic Blue Mica

2007 Acura MDX Nimbus Gray

Machine: PC 7424

Pads I have: LC Hydrotech low profile 5.5 Cyan and Tangerine

Prima Orange, Yellow, White, Black

I'm open to getting new pads (and maybe even a new machine).

Optimum has a two pad system for the rotary that debuted with the Hyper system. There's a wool blend for the compound and a foam pad for the polish...but the pads you have will work fine. Test a few pad/polish combos and see what works best on each car. You can't get around doing a test spot, because paint systems are different from car to car. You may even find that the exact same combo that is perfect for the Lexus will actually micromarr the Acura. There is no single perfect combo that works on every car every time. Even with the Optimum two pad system, you can vary the pressure infinitely to get different results.

NOTE: I'm not trying to spam the forum by mentioning Optimum pads. The pads the OP has will do fine. I only suggested them because it is a simpler system: 1 pad for compound, 1 pad for polish. I work for Optimum, so take it for what its worth.

I think that Chris said it best. Pads/machines/polishers etc can become very preference based. I've been known to put compound of a finishing pad for in between steps. We did two black 335 BMW's side by side last week with the exact same steps. We pulled them both out one had trails and one didn't. Becoming an expert is learning that although "the process" is important (ie top to bottom, in to out, dense pads then soft) a great eye, and patience are very key ingredients too.

You will be fine. i did a Lexus with the OHC/ OHP spray on LC orange, and it buffed out flawlessly, even on the areas that I had to wetsand.

That's for sure. Paint hard/softness/color will definately be contingent on what pad(s) is used with the finishing polish from my testing. Especially when going from the Spray Compound and using wool as this could sometimes require an intermediate step on softer paints.
