Best/only way to clean/dry wool wash mitt?

Is rinsing in cool water and alloying to air dry the best/only way to clean/dry a wool wash mitt? And do you turn it inside out to dry?

after i'm done using it, i'll take the hose and stick it in the mitt and hold the cuff closed so it flushes out any debris and i'll also hose off the outside one last time before squeezing/swinging out the excess water and then use a pant hanger with the clips to hang dry it with the cuff open...

I used a little microfiber shampoo on my mitt, and then washed it out real well. It seemed to make it look brand new again. Any reason not to do this?

I wash mine with Woolite when I think it's necessary, or even just drop it in the washer wet with shampoo mix. But I hardly ever bother washing mine since they rinse clean during the carwashing, and I don't bother hanging them up to dry very often either. Seems like the ones I treat oh-so-carefully don't last any longer than the ones I just rinse out and lay over the rim of the bucket :nixweiss It's kinda like the individual variations between different mitts matter more than how I treat them, not that I think the latter is unimportant or anything.

I dunno about MF shampoo...somebody once posted that they contain degreasers, and I wouldn't think that too great for keeping the fur stuck to the pelt. Drying out the "skin" part of it with a harsh product might hasten the thing's falling apart.

by wool you mean sheepskin? I dry my sheepskin so air can get inside, they fall apart if you dont. I clip on hanger

See...another perfect example of YMMV :D The ones I simply leave wet and otherwise abuse are often outlasting the ones I take good care of :nixweiss

I just wash my mitts (MF) in cold / cold water in a front loader (1200 rpms) with charlie soap...worked for 4+ years...

I switch about every 200 washings....give-or-take.
