WHat is the best MF for use with a QD? I have been using a qd on my car almost daily, but I think it is time for me to step up to better mf towel. The wal-mart towels probabluy aren't the best choice... :D

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Any of the high-quality ones you'll find at ExcelDetail, PakShak, or any other place that Autopians purchase from, will be great for QDing. I wouldn't use the WalMart ones for QDing though, especially on dark paints.

It is a Silver Audi actually... I think i wll start using the Wal Mart MF on the wheels, engine bay, and interior from now on...

What about these? are these any good:

I have so products ready for a great detail, but I am stuck with only QD while the paint cures on my front and rear bumpers... :(

The quality is just not that good, I personally think they suck, I only use them for my wheels/tires.

The MFs that Adam's carries are very nice as well.

If those MFs are Viper in the first link those are BAAAD, meaning good. Those are some of my favorites. I also have some of the exceldetail ones (from the second link) which are also really good. You can't go wrong with either of those.

I also have PakShak ones, 4* ones and today I just received my Adam's Polishes ones. All are really excellent.

The differences in the quality of these ones isn't really that significant, but I know they are a LOT better than the WalMart ones I have (more than twenty of them). These ones are thin, lose shape from washing, and seem to shrink? They are now reserved for interior cleaning and I have a few in the car for those just in case situations (bird sh*t removal, bugs, dash dusting, etc).

I'm not saying they are all THAT bad, there's just better quality out there.

**edit**

Ranney at PakShak gives us great deals on MFs and I really like his towels, the Ultras I THINK were close to 2 bucks a pop... Just hit him up.

i cannot agree with John more. am not a professional but have used a lot of different types of MF towels from many different vendors( have not bought from pakshak yet) and the yellow detail towels that Adam's is selling are the best that i have ever used. have been holding up well. are soft and absorbent. they are not cheap. they are...very good!

My favorite for QD'n is the Ultra for SMP. Blue and the plushest thing I have ever seen. I got some of the pakshak towels and they are tits! I use them to remove LSP's because they have a short side that removes the product, and a plush side to buff. But just QD'ing I use that Ultra from Steve. I dont know where he gets it, but it is crazy soft and thick...

The ExcelDetail MFs you have linked above are great. Those are the towels I use everytime I use something on the paint.

I wouldn't use the WalMart ones on the paint (particularly darks) because they are of lesser quality than the ones from the well-known vendors we have here. They are more likely to scratch, and dark colors would highlight the defects more.

ok. so I have people saying that there are great towels from Adams, PakShak, and ExcelDetail. But, my question is, which towels in particular? Evreryone has like a million different types of MF. PLEASE specify. i am an ignorant ******* and I am likely to buy the wrong ones... lol

I use Costco :up And I did compare with Adam's and its almost the same. Costco 15.00 for 20? IDK, you do the math :D

The blue Supreme 16x16s from ExcelDetail are the ones I have. I believe they're $2.49 each.

I also have a bunch of the discounted ones. I would suggest ordering a bunch of those. Good MFs for $1.49 each is a hell of a deal.

QD'ing in general is best used with the plushest mf you have in your arsenal, and sometimes this can be so soft that removing polish excess can be a bit troublesome. So, for what you are looking for just go to each vendor you listed above and look at their plushest towel/s and pick one. Your choice can be based on price, look, recommendation, or whatever you choose. Regardless, you are dealing with all top quality products so you can't go wrong.

Or you can do like I did, and buy a towel or two from all of them and then make your own decision. I couldn't decide so I bought towels from everywhere and have now finally decided on my own favorites, which happen to be the Utra Fine Towel from Pakshak for QD'ing and final wipedowns, the Ultra Towel from yosteve for 75% of all my detailing work, and the Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel.....well, for drying.

Well, i have the drying towel WW, from exceldetail and I have 2 Sonus Der Wunder Buffing towels for, well, buffing, and I have the Concours buffing towel for my final buffing of the LSP.

This is why I need a good MF for QD. I go through so many...

Like I said, I do a QD on my car aklmost everyday...

The Concours Buffing Towel is about as soft as you can get. I have one of those also and it was actually TOO soft for buffing, so I shelved it for the most delicate jobs. If you like that one, I'd just stick with that, or maybe buy a couple more since you qd so much.

You DO reuse them right? I have about 40 MFs now, and that's more than enough for me. Once I have 25+ MFs that are dirty, I make sure to wash them before any major detailing job that may require more clean MFs than I have ready at that moment.

Again, I'd recommend grabbing a bunch of the discounted MFs at ExcelDetail while there are still some left.
