Best method to get out the toughest stains?

Hi, new guy here.

Seems like there are lots of fellow

Zaino zealots here.

I use the terry/sponge applicator and it seems

that as much zaino goes into the sponge as gets

on the car. I thought I saw mention of someone

using a less absorbent applicator but I can't

find the thread now. What was it?

thanks

I think most people use a foam applicator, as it doesn't soak up as much product. They can be hard to find in most stores (at least around my neck of the woods) but are plentiful online....

good luck.

Search APPLICATOR and ZAINO.

I use a foam app. I love my viking one with the little handle thingy it is very comfy to use. I also saw one that is like two foam apps glued togetther...It looks promising too.

Are foam pads also recommended for applying Blackfire or Klasse? Is it just a Zaino recommended thing? Or should I stick with my MF pads when applying BF.

The Viking HD pads are perfect for hand application of polishes/abrasives and also work well for protectants. They're big and you can work faster and are shaped to allow for less finger cramping. I just wish they were easier to work with when using Pinnacle Waxes. But on the original subject of which applicator soaks up the least amount of product, I think the little, flat, disc shaped ones soak up the least amount.

MF pads are great too as long as they are high quality ones. I use them as well kinda to change the feel for what I am doing.

Definately foam applicator pads. Meguiar's 3-pack ones are cost efficient and does the job done, but the Viking HD and Eagle One Xpress-It are more comfortable.

All are easy to clean up and doesn't soak much product.

I prefer foam pads for almost everything. I believe Brad B. does as well. There are many many reasons to not use terry pads for wax or synthetic application. Laters

Foam pads are not recommended at all by Zaino. Please note that this is not my opinion. I posted my favorable experience with the Viking foam applicators on the Corvette forum and almost immediately received an email from Sal Zaino stating that foam applicators could scratch. Sal was not being pushy about his cotton applicators, he was just stating his opinion on the foam applicators. I have never been misled by Sal, so I will to continue to use cotton applicators on my Corvette but I'm still going to use the foam on my Jeep to see if I have any scratch problems. You can look back a few days and find the thread "Foam Applicators" began on Jan 5 for other information.

If the Zaino applicators soak up too much polish then I must be doing something right. I can easily do 3 coats with one ounce of polish using this type of applicator. Maybe I could do 3 with 1/2 ounce if I use foam?

I do not bother washing the applicator. Once both sides are used I throw it away.

The only foam type applicator I tried was by taking off the polish dried cotton lining and using the inside foam by itself. I found it more difficult to apply the polish as there seemed to be more resistance in moving this applicator versus the cotton covered kind. Do regular foam applicators glide easily over the finish like the cotton covered ones?

Other than having to throw out the applicator after 2 uses(because I can't be bothered washing it) I see no reason to switch.

I'm able to get about 2 coats with half an ounce using a foam app, including the windows and rims.

Was the foam inside the terry app block shaped? If so, then yeah, there will be a lot of resistance. I've tried a block shaped app before that I made myself and it kept grabbing on my paint and flipping out of my hand. Once you get started the regular foam apps glide much easier than the terry apps, especially the Viking HD apps. That's just my preference. The terry apps work very well too.

If you give the applicator a very light spritz of Z-6 it should glide over the surface much easier and make the product go farther. HOWEVER I have not used Zaino so do not do this until a Zealot replies! Just an idea, it could be a bad one!

Yes, we are aware that Sal recommends using terry applicators to apply his polishes. But he also recommends to use Z-6 quick detailer and his Zaino wash. Many here have discovered that you get "spectacular" results with other quick detailers and washes as well. The same thing can be said with using foam. I prefer to listen to certain objective individuals on this board whom I really trust. I, for one, get wonderful results with foam and highly recommend using them with Zaino. Laters

I guess I must be in the catagory of the untrusted, non-objective individuals. The intent of my post seems to be lost to some and I apologize if I appeared to be posting just to promote Zaino sales. I owned a very successful computer business for 20 years before retiring and really don't need money bad enough to mislead or blow smoke to make a few bucks. I like Zaino products and Sal Zaino knows how to take care of customers. Try calling "Mr.Meguiar" or the head of almost any other polish/wax manufacturer and see if you get to talk to the owner. I sell Zaino products mainly as a hobby and to let me keep in touch with other car enthusiasts, plus, it's a great excuse to go to about every show and shine during the summer. Use the product that works for you. Let people know your experience, good or bad. Please leave it on a professional level, think about what you're saying and avoid the picks and digs that don't have anything to do with the product.

I have someone coming in on monday and he wants me to take out some stains which look pretty deep on the cloth seats and carpets. I have folex, 303 spot remover, and apc+ on hand. What method should I use to get the stains out. I am doing this by hand without any other machines. Just brushes and stain cleaning chemicals. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using APC+, you will need to dilute it. Follow dirtections for the spot remover. I would say that the best bet would be to apply your cleaner onto a soft cotton towel, and blot into fabric until stain is gone. Do not rub the stain.

Depending on the stain type one or the other may work better. Test as needed till you choose the best product and move forward.
I've used 303 with good results but not sure if it was the spot remover or the other 303 upholstery cleaner.
Use the medium nail brush for scrubbing as needed and blot then repeat.
