Best glaze for hiding swirls..

Hi

This is my first post and ..I am new to detailing and to this forum and I'd to find the best answer at hiding swirls with out abrasion. :wall:wall

Firstly, everything will be done by hand so abrasion would not be an option (afraid of add more scratches) and probably the best option for me would be to fill them.

Therefore, I am looking for a glaze on my NEW car and wondering which one would be the best at hiding the swirls with the least abrasion. (Or you guys can tell me if glazes are not abrasive??) I plan to wax over top of it with some P21S

Can you guys tell me the difference if any of the following best filling/least abrasiveness??

clearkote red moose machine glaze

pb black hole show glaze dark

menerza finishing touch glaze

mother's glaze sealant

Also I am assuming that Meg's 9 will be more abrasive then the above since it has slight cleaners in them??

Can you also tell if the following combo is ok? Would you skip any steps? Again its for a new car

2 bucket wash and waffle dry ---->Meg #9 SMR /Meg NXT 2.0/ glaze???/P21S

Thanks

Donald

Megs 9 will look the best since it repairs but doing it by hand will take forever. Best to get even a cheapo random orbit polisher. I also like Megs NXT and Zymol Cleaner wax when it comes to filling and hiding.

Don't waste your time then - filling them in is only temporary. I played that game by hand for many, many, many, many years, and it was a complete letdown and waste of time.

Get a buffer and remove them. If you're afraid of damaging your paint, get a cyclo, it's really idiot proof :woot:

Danase Wet Glaze is a good one. NXT 2.0 does okay but I still get streaking on darker colors with it. Certainly does save time though in it being a sealant and a glaze in one product.

I would say a glaze has their role, especially if the clearcoat is getting thin.

Hello

danponjican: DWG isnt a good product for what he is wanting, it has very little filling ability.

My advice would be the Mothers Phase 2 Sealer and glaze since its loaded with fillers. Just keep applying coat after coat until the swirls are filled.

Donald: An oil based glaze is a product which absorbed in the pores of your paintwork, to have a maximum effect of doing what you want it needs to go on clean paintwork NOT sealed paintworked.

Here is what you should do: 9 (hard any abrasives and will do little to help) will clean the paintwork, IE: it will remove all the stuff from the pores of the paintwork leaving it fresh and ready for a glaze.

Apply your glaze.

Then apply NXT 2.0, by hand it will be fine (someone is bound to get cliche and say it cleans away the glaze!).

Wait 24hs or next week when you wash your car next and apply the P21s.

Geoff

Thanks for the replies..

Will you guys think I should clean the paint with P21s GEPC or should I just clean it with Meg#9

I don't have the gepc yet but was thinking it may be less aggressive for my new car??

Meguiar's #9 will do a better job than P21S. P21S is strictly a cleaner with no abrasive or filling abilities.

CG EZ creme?

EZ Creme is the base product for Danase Wet Glaze and Poorboys Black Hole. Based on how each company markets its product, I think Poorboys add more cleaners and fillers than Danase. I will probably get a bottle after I've finished the Danase. I like the Danase product, but between polishes I wouldn't mind additional fillers.

another product that is a good filler is Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish. leaves a very nice shine - needs to be topped with a sealant/wax.

Hello!

CG EZ glaze has about the same filling as DWG. Old bottles of CG EZ glaze had cleaners, new bottles do not and im lead to belive are identical to DWG? Anyway, the CG stuff is rebranded by lots of companies, Jorgens etc.

Amigo is a great glaze for filling, it is also possible to layer a sealant over the top of it that would not be compatible with an oil based glaze. Its worthing noting that not all sealants require polymer glazes though.

Enjoy!

Thanks Geoff

I'm still a bit confused on the Glaze choices..

I've searched some of your post and you recommend 50/50 for VMG/RMG when applying a glaze by hand.

If were to buy 1 glaze which one would you get to go under P21S?

-glaze must hide swirls (dark charcol grey car)

-glaze will by applied by hand and buffed off by mf towels

-glaze is least abrasive of the bunch

I did the search it seems like the most popular here are RMG, Menerzera FTG, Ez Creme? If OTC Mothers glaze phase 2?

So how hard is it to remove RMG by hand?

Thanks again, Donald

Thanks Donald

Go to Home Depot.

Buy a Ryobi 6" orbital buffer for $20

Go to Pep Boys and buy a few 6" foam polishing bonnets.

I get VERY impressive results out of this inexpensive combo.

It will do 100x more than you can w/ your hands and it's 100% screwup-proof.
