Best deal on Klasse SG

I followed the advice of a fellow Autopian - Metallic Mike and checked local CarQuest store looking for Klasse.

They had three 16.9 oz bottles of SG, but couldn't figure out the price.

Finally they said it was discontinued and the price was $1.69/bottle so I bought all three bottles (great gifts for friends).

They also had Klasse wheel cleaner, anybody used it? I bet it's cheap.

Thanks Mike.

Glad I could help ya!

It never fails, after I internet order something I always find it in some store after the fact. Same with Liquid Glass....I ordered some for testing several months ago and now AutoZone carries it! I'm gonna check some local cycle shops next and see if they carry P21S or it's identical twin S100 carnauba and paint cleaner.

Anyhow, glad I could be of some assistance!

P.S. You must have visited the CarQuest next to Sonic...I think they had 3 bottles and wheel cleaner...;)

The wheel cleaner is ok. Pretty substandard if you compare it to Greased Lightning or something. It will work but there is better stuff out there.

Good job on that SG steal!! Are you going to share the joy and spread that stuff around Autopia? You could probably bottle it up in little containers and sell it.

Mike,

Go to a Harley dealer on Whitten Rd, they have S100 carnauba wax and paint cleanser for under $25. That wax is top notch and so easy to use, you're gonna love it.

BTW that is exactly the store I went to.

As far as reselling Klasse, I don't think so. I'm going to give it away to my friends to spread detailing bug.

Thanks F1! The Harley dealer you are referring to is called <strong class='bbc'>Bumpus[/b] I think, and I've been meaning to drop by since they opened there, just never got the chance. Seems like a really fancy place. I see a red Viper and all kinds of other premium cars parked there from time to time! I'll definitely check it out now since I'd like to pick up the S100/P21S combo for more testing. And at under $25, that's too good to be true! At least it'll save me from having to internet order it...

Thanks again!

$1.69/bottle??? Geez, I remember paying $20+ for a bottle.

I scanned through half a dozen pages of Metallic Mike's posts and didn't see anything about Klasse available at a retail store, so gave up.

Metallic Mike,

What's your feedback on Liquid Glass? Does it leave a durable and shiny protective finish? I see it all the time in AutoZone in my area, and was wondering how good of a job it does (vs carnauba or Klasse/Zaino products for that matter). Thanks for the info.

LG is a good product. It gives a reflective mirror shine somewhat similar to Klasse, and the durability is usually 3 or 4 months, depending on environmental conditions. I tend to prefer the deep mirror shine of a sealant or polymer forumla over a carnauba anyhow, as I've used my fair share of both for years. I mainly use LG on relative's cars that need quick "wax" jobs (technically LG isn't a wax). It's basically a very old tech silicone-polymer formula, but I'd take it over any store bought sealant or carnauba for its shine and durability. So, I'd say LG is a great product, a step below Zaino or Klasse, but better IMHO than most local varieties. However, it's not good enough IMO to keep me from using Zaino on my personal cars.

I know other people who have sworn by LG for years though. I'd suggest anyone pick some up just to play around with and experiment, especially since it's becomming more widely available locally.
