hey guys how has everyone been? The last time i was on here was about a year ago and i was in the process of opening my own shop! We have been open about 13 months now and all and all i would say its going pretty good. we have had our ups and downs as any new business would. we decided to expand and add car audio to our business to help us out during the slow times and that does seem to help, however back in august our store got robbed and they stole everything. about $6,000 in invintory, computer systems, files, the safe, tools, everything. They spent about 4 hours in the shop loading there car. luckily he didnt see the DVR and so we had some evidance but he made a plea deal with the courts and he was only convicted of peti larceny and tresspassing and his sentace was 1 year probation and $1,500 restitution for what insurance wouldnt cover. that was BS if you ask me! they said becuase i only had cameras outside the building i couldnt prove he was the one inside only that he was there, really? anyway. as a result we had to close for a little while and we lost a couple dealerships business. at the time it wasnt to bad becuase we still had our loyal customers. but now that winter is here in western NY its killing us to not have that extra business. below ill list a few questions i have rather then make new threads. i will also include some photos of the shop!
What is the best way to talk to service and or sales managers to get their business? we have about 6 small detail shops who are hacks and have no problem charging only $60 to do a complete detail and there doing them in like 3 hours. dealers love it even tho they constantly have to redo the work. i need to somehow pursueade them to come to me, and in some cases back to me.
what do you find is the best advertisment, i have tried radio but at $800 a week i cant do it. im not that big of a shop, and newspaper is $500 a week. i seem to do extremly well with word of mouth and hanging up flyers at businesses. what type of deals should i run? you can see what i offer and pricing on my website ( yes there is typos, they will be corrected soon. a freind made the site for me inbetween his big jobs) innovativeedgedetailing.com
how would you recomend overall for me to increase services and what are your tried and true ways of marketing with dealerships? how long do you spend on there cars?
