PA DETAILER

DETAILED TODAY?
Since I posted here. Still enjoying the hobby. Traded my 18 Colorado ZR2 for a 24 ZR2 back in NOV.24. Black is interesting to maintain.

Nice truck! Black is a full time job, lol. I like your terminology that it is interesting to maintain! Good to see you here again.

Congrats on your new truck!!! She looks Beautiful !!!!

I have had many black vehicles including the infamous BMW black, and loved them all... My newest, a 2022 Ford Ranger is black...

Yeah, I guess it may take a little more work, depending on how you treat it while washing, and what you do to the paint to help it stay shiny...

We old school guys (me) always thought that black is the most elegant color out there... :)

Did you have any engine or transmission "problems" or recalls on the 2018 Colorado ZR2?
I am just (A LOT) concerned about GM's reputation and financial viability considering ALL the recalls and class-action lawsuits about their engines that they are facing, enough to keep me away from any GM vehicle new or used (10 years or less). The "too big to fail" federal bailout of GM in 2008 is a distant memory to most car buyers and I do not think that will ever happen again, but never say never!
Did you order it in black or did you buy it off the lot/showroom that way?

Speaking of recalls, our 2015 Ford Taurus is under recall for the backup camera that keeps going out, as are a number of Ford SUVs. It is happening with more frequency now and makes driving (backing up) a real safety concern, but because it is an "intermittent problem" it is difficult to diagnose what the EXACT problem is that causes it NOT to work, according to the Ford dealership. Because of the design of the Taurus rear trunk and rear side windows and C-column, a backup camera is absolute necessity for visibility and using the exterior side mirrors for backing up are not in my driving skill-set , Besides, Ford's outside mirror design has a small convex mirror in the upper outside corner in both side mirrors to aid in visibility for the blind-spots on this vehicle, again an absolute necessity when driving that one learns to check before changing lanes or just viewing vehicle traffic coming up beside you, so you do not have a "full" side mirror like most vehicles.

My 18 did not have any tranny issues. Had the flush done with the new fluid to be safe.

The 24 was right off the lot. 5 miles. So far it has been stellar.

Keep us Autopians informed on how you detail and maintain the visual appearance (specific car-care products, equipment, and methods) of this Black Chevy Colorado AND any mechanical, electrical, and interior or exterior part issues that you experience. Inquiring minds want to know.....(Well, the nosy "one" anyway!)

Also, let us know how this truck "performs" in your daily back-and-forth commutes to work in the Hill country of Pennsylvania where you live, especially in the winter. ( You ARE using this truck for your work commute, or do you have a "different beater vehicle" for this purpose?)

Yes it is my DD. My products of choice have been the TW HYBRID SOLUTIONS LINE. Their spray black wax is awesome for black. Love their wet wax also as a Drying aid. Also the ceramic spray coating always worked for me. INSIDE JOB is great on interior surfaces. Love their slick foam wash too.

The 2'7 turbomax has been impressive. 310hp. 430 torque. A beast in winter conditions. Truck drives amazing with the DSSV dampers. Tech is night to day compered to the 2nd gen.
