How to tell when new pads are needed?

I purchased all the pads that I have from autogeek. How do I know when its time to start using new pads? They all sort of feel soft now, so I was thinking of throwing them out and ordering some new ones. What are the best quality pads available from your own experience?

Some cutting pads get soft and lose their cut (Cyclo ones are notorious for this). Some polishing pads do it too, it depends on the pad and the polish. If you notice your paint correction taking longer (or not happening) then it might indicate worn pads. But unless that happens I'd only replace them if they start coming apart. I have some finishing pads that are many years old, they still apply LSPs just fine.
