Autopia License Plate Frame Requests

DavidB said:
Maybe we should ask this: What is the price I need to hit to make a license plate frame worth buying?

I agree with DavidB on this question. A price needs to be set and agreed upon. I think $20.00 sounds reasonable. DavidB, is this a possibility?

Oh yeah, Count me in for one too.:xyxthumbs

Now the count is at 23.

I added you to the list, Yaz.

As for price, I'd go as high as $30 so I can have my matching pair. I'm guessing $20 is probably going to be more palatable to most members, though . . .

You know, Car Customizing isn't the most trafficked forum on the board; maybe if we put this post over in Hot Tub, or another more heavily-visited forum, we'd get enough in on the deal to keep the price down. David? Should I use my Amazing Moderator Powersâ„¢ to move this post someplace more visible?

I think $25 is a decent price

I won't know until I see the numbers. The original plates I did were very heavy metal and the laser cut lettering was expensive. If I go to a plastic frame I'm sure I can get it cheap.

I'd much rather have a nice quality frame that actually surrounds the plate and keeps the sharp edges away from the body and away from my fingers/wash mitts/towels/etc. I mean, I'd much sooner buy a very nice frame for $30-40 than a cheap one for $15 or so. I don't know if anyone else feels this way. Basically, I'd buy the frame because it performs a function. The fact that it says "Autopia" in a classy way is icing. But I wouldn't buy one that doesn't do anything except say "Autopia". You know what I mean?

How much were the original ones, and how many were made?

Edit: nm, I looked back again... 50 and $30. ;)

The only photo editing done was to remove the numbers from my license plate. Most plate frames I've seen fit pretty much like this one. The frame covers the plate completely. I think maybe what you're seeing isn't the plate sticking out from behind the frame; rather, it's the chrome edge reflecting along the top and the right hand side.

Heh, so now I have another question. Does the chrome edge hit the paint? I mean, is it the cut edge there, or does it roll under? Thanks!

I'll have to go look; it's been a while since I mounted it, and don't recall.

What happened to the license plate frames? Did everyone lose interest?

We are proud of Autopia and what it does for us, and the license plate frames offer maximum exposure for the site.

What happened? :nixweiss

Sorry gang... I was overcome by events this past month and have done nothing to search for a supplier. The original frames I had made are simply too expensive to make again. My next project is the shirts, then I will look at frames.
