Post Megs #16 - An Apology showed few nice examples of M16 vs. Zaino. Try as I might I was not able to find any discussions of Autoglym Super Resin vs. Zaino Z-5 Pro. Could people with experience on this subject please chime in? Examples would be appreciated too.

Thank you in advance!

SRP is a PITA to remove as my experience. Z5 is easy. But the main point I think is that SRP has cleaning abilities, lots of fillers and the durability isn't very good. I applied just once. Z5 will last months, around 7-8 months, and it will not fill as SRP will do.

I hope this help.

I liked SRP, I did a Red 03 Silverado.. it performed exactly as to what I bought it for. I had no removeable issues. It was about 55 degrees outside. Great look.

A bit like comparing Apples and oranges.Super Resin polish,IMO is an underated, effective cleaner/wax.Zaino Z5/Z5pro is a sealant, with ''some'' filling ability, but no cleaners or abrasives;two different products, with different uses.

I applied SRP via PC and polishing LC PAD ad left it to dry for 30 min. How do you apply SRP to do not have problems removing it?

See, that is exactly why "stupid" questions like mine are neccessary because how otherwise I would know they are apples and oranges? I mean SRP has "polish" in it's name and when I go to ProperAutoCare.com it talks about it as cleaner/polish/sealant combo that has no wax so how I would be able to know it's cleaner/wax and not sealant like they claim it to be and like Zaino is. And why Zaino calls Z-5 Pro a polish when you say it is a sealant?

Basicly every manufacturer puts the discription as they see fit,Megs NXT wax for instance is a polymer sealant! So somtimes you have to read between the lines to check if its really a Polish, wax,or sealant

Ive only used Z10 leather in a bottle so can't coment on Zanio,SRP is more like AIO than anything else, both have cleaning ability,I would say they both have very mild abrasives and both need a good LSP for durability.

You need to put SRP on t-h-i-n otherwise it can be a pain to remove but thats only because people put it on to thick, spritz your applicator ,if doing it by hand or pad if using a PC with QD or even plain water before putting polish on as this will help the applicator/pad not soak up polish and helps get even covarage.

SRP can stain black trim/ bumpers but if you go over it with AG bumpercare or any good protectant like AG vynil amd rubber care ,AA,ect or cleaner like AA multiperpose it should come off.

Also Duragloss products has in their descriptions in some products "polish" but they are sealants... For example, TPP (Total Performance Polish) 105 is a sealant without cleaning abilities...

I understand your question mate ;)

Please keep in mind that the car care supplier/raw material manufacturing industry calls polymer sealants generally as polish. We use this word in a different, basically more exact context. Just accept it and be a bit more intelligent when approaching these questions. The other point is that the average users simply don't know the difference between a wax/polish/sealant/whatever.

SRP is a great product. It contains a high quality aluminum oxide abrasive powder package, and a resin based sealant. VERY effective on plastics too (headlights, etc.), but I had no difficulties with removal. I don't let it dry long though. Definitely a good one stepper, which looks extremely good with 2-3 coats of EGP.

Do you put SRP via PC or by hand?

I used it via PC and polishing LC PAD and let it dry for around 30 min. It was a very hard job removing it. I used QD for helping the removal.

Thank you for the explanation, it helps me a lot. Such manufacturer "truth in advertising" makes selection of product an area that is as slippery as wax ... err ... sealant ... err ... polish ... err ... for us newbs and average persons. :angry

So, with Z5 Pro being sealant (acrylic sealant, correct?) what other acryllic sealants are out there? Menzerna FMJ? Blackfire Wet Diamond? Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze? JW Acrylic Jett?

... and which one would be considered as best, if that term can be used?

I've had really good results with Four Star UPP,BUT most of the people who really RAVE about sealant are Zanio users, they do it with an almost religous zeal, now when those people are also Autopians it make's me want to try Zanio next, probably Collinite (I know its a nuba)after that.

Don't overlook Megs NXT either, for an easily accessable over the counter (OTC)product it will help you make up your mind which was your going to go,you could always top a sealant with a carnuba then you've got the best of both worlds,so

Polish first AIO,SRP,PB SSR 1

Sealant Second,4*upp,Meg's NXT,Ex-P

Wax Third, Megs #16,Nattys Blue,Pinnacle Souveran,Collinite

I really love Klasse SG, Carlack Lonf Life Sealant (=Werkstatt AJ) and Werkstatt AJT. All are easy to apply if you do the right process. I apply the Carlack68 Nano, and let it dry for 30 min and after I do a WOWO method for one of the 3 sealants, very easy with nice results.

One of reasons I am asking is because I am in the mood for side by side experimenting one of my cars a little bit. I have a full range of Merguiar's products (including # 16) I can put on one half of the hood. For other half I am thinking of Menzerna IP, Menzerna FP II, Blackfire Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish, Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish, and then Blackfire Wet Diamond.
