Autogeek Auto Quip backing plate quality?

I just received my Autogeek, and bought a backing plate by the name of "Auto Quip". I had thought that I was buying a Lake Country backing plate, but I was mistaken. Anyways, have there been any problems with this backing plate? Just wanna make sure.

Is yours about a half inch thick? If so, those are the more "rigid" backing plates, while the ones I linked are "flexible". Why do they have two? I guess some of it is price, preference, kinds of surfaces you are doing, what kinds of pads you are using.

I must've used every type of PC plate imaginable over the years, even PC has made a scad of different ones. Nothing wrong with the Auto Quip one, but it *is* very rigid. Not that some of the softer ones actually flex much (if at all) either; they might be a little more gentle on your pads but I wouldn't expect any functional difference on the paint. Even some of the "flex" plates don't really flex that much under the sort of pressure you can exert on a PC without making it bog down.

I see. Thanks for the explanations. I was trying to bend the plate to see how flexible it is, and you guys are right, it's quite rigid. But I didn't really have anything to compare to, so I don't know what the standard is. Anyways, as long as it works and does its job, I'll be keeping it.
