Well, here goes....what a tough job ! :
Saturday morning as per norm, I went out and gave the car a good wash, and just went over with the Meg's Color-X so that I could hopefully provide the Detailer (Mark) a smooth surface on Monday.
Sunday - got home from the gym, and went over the car with Meg's NXT QD spray just to make sure any light dust was gone in prep for Monday.
Now, unfortunately due to admiring Mark's work I didn't take many photo's (just managed a few) as the car was being done.
The car was buffed using a Makita Rotary, and Meg's #84 compound. After several hits, and plenty of the Meg's being used, this would then be followed up with a few more hits - this time using Menzerna IP3.02 to de-swirl any marks left by the Meg's compound.
Once the panel was nice and shiny, ie. no swirls / scratches, I would then follow Mark with the PC + Swissvax cleaner fluid. After this, I would then go over with the Swissvax wax to finish off the panel.
To do the whole damn car took roughly 12 looooong hours - it was worse than I expected when Mark had shone the lights onto it .....looooads of swirls and marring !! In fact, what Mark had told me was that I had managed to de-swirl the enitre car with the PC......what was left was DEEP marring caused by some dumb previous owner using car washes !!:furious:
I hope you enjoy the pics :
A couple of takes on the driver's door & front panel to get a sight of how BAD things really were
Mark sets to work on the hood (a total of 2.5 hours !)
After plenty of polishing on the hood, Mark set to work on the door and front panel, as I continued with the cleaner fluid + wax on the hood
Here's some during shots and finishing shots of the driver's door + front panel
After a long gruelling day, loads of photo's never got took due to the hard 12 hours we had. So here are some "after" shots I took the following day on my cameraphone :
Thanks for looking - hope you enjoyed the journey
