2008 Chevy 2500HD. 3 years old, never been properly detailed. Really wasn't in bad shape other than it needed a lot of claying.

ONR wash, Meguiars white clay

Optimum Hyper Polish with an orange Optimum cutting pad using my Porter Cable 7424 XP.

Clearkote's Carnauba Moose Wax

3D Ultra Protectant on tires/fenderwells

2011 Audi R8 Spider. Owner's original concern was an area where he tried to clay, then polish out (by hand) a bird bomb etching. He managed to remove the damage the bird bomb caused but managed to scuff the area up pretty good. After pulling the car out, it was obvious someone took a rotary to the back end of the car (and a small section on the hood) and molested the paint.

I was curious to see how well the new Meguiars microfiber polishing system for the DA would work on Audi paint. In the past, I've had to use the rotary to get any real correction on the rock hard Spies-Hecker paints they use. I started off with D300 Compound and the microfiber cutting disc and on some areas it was slow going. I then added in some Meguiars #105, sometimes just using that, in other areas using both #105 and D300 on the pad. A few areas took several passes, but the swirls were removed and the paint had a very nice wet glow. I then followed with Optimum Hyper Polish using a Meguiars microfiber finishing pad which noticeably amped up the gloss.

Full process:

ONR wash, Meguiars white clay

Meguiars D300/#105 using a Meguiars microfiber cutting disc with my PC 7424 XP

Optimum Hyper Polish with a Meguiars microfiber finishing pad and my PC 7424 XP

Optimum Opti-Seal to protect

3D Ultra Protectant for the tires/fenderwells

Which new ride? My 6 speed Maxima or my road bike? Both are doing quite well. :)

Really like 3D UP, similar level of gloss to Armor All but seems a bit more durable. The fact that it isn't as thick makes it easier to dress the fenderwells.

i was referring to the maxima, glad to see that as well as the new bike are doing well... :)

Always look forward to your write ups.

I admire how you keep your processes fairly simple and manage to achieve outstanding results.

Nice! Those HD trucks are some gargantuan monsters.... about a foot and a half feet of extra paint on each side than my half ton.

Nice work Scott! How you been holdin up to this Texas heat the past couple months...Nothing but 100*+

This is Texas, it is hot in the summer. No big deal, outside in it all day, then I go ride 30-55 miles in the late afternoon. Once you become acclimated and stay hydrated, it pretty much feels normal.

Looks great Scott! I love those Chevy HD's! Did a silver 2011 today and I loved it. I want one bad, but have no REAL need for that big of a truck lol.

Great job on that and the lexus, and beautiful work on the R8!
